 GPS...Don't Leave Home Without It

About two
years ago I purchased my first GPS navigation device. Personally, I am
directionally challenged so it was more of a necessity than a luxury.
All I needed was to get from point A to point B in a timely manner.
However, I soon discovered that this little device could do more than
give verbal directions as if reading straight from MapQuest.
I
have been known to miss a turn or two when going to a new location.
There is no sweeter sound than the words, "Recalculating...Recalculating."
Many may find this annoying but, to me, it says, "Since you didn't
follow instructions, I'm giving you a second chance (or third, or
fourth) and you will soon be back on track." And when was the last time
your passenger gave you a second, third, or fourth chance? In my family,
it's almost World War III. My GPS is infinitely patient.
Do
you need to find the nearest gas station, restaurant, UPS Store or
Walmart? A GPS can tell you that information, too. It can detect a
traffic jam and redirect your route. When you are near your location it
will tell you if the address is on the right or the left. The newer
versions have an arrow to point exactly which exit you should take if
there are multiple exits. One of my favorite features shows the outline
of buildings so you can see the shape and size of the building want.
At
the end of a long trip I get in my car, turn on my GPS and press the
button labeled, "Go Home." Of all the wonderful places my GPS takes me,
it always brings me back home. And for that reason, I will never leave
home without it. |
