Is your computer running slower than usual but you do not want to buy a new system? There are so many different things you can try to do to speed up your system; if something is old or slow you don't have to just throw it away you can try this first. By following the tips in this article it will show you how to speed up a slow computer.

1. Clear your temporary internet files and delete cookies. When visiting any website on the internet it leaves what you call a cookie crumb on your browser. By deleting these every couple of days it will help with the speed of your browser. The steps to perform this procedure are very simple and take a matter of minutes using the Tools option in your browser.

2. Delete programs that you don't use. If you have different toolbars you've downloaded for free or programs sitting on your desktop that you don't use, you should go through them and delete them from your system. That will free up space on your computer and help the performance of your system therefore it can help to speed up a slow computer.

3. Try running routine maintenance programs. By doing this you will keep your computer safe from any viruses and program files that are corrupt. There are many different programs that you can find on the internet to help with the process of finding viruses. Many websites offer free trials as well.

4. If you download movies, music, games, or pictures then you should try and sift through the ones that are old and delete them or put them on a disc. Along with all the photography people out there, you should simply upload your pictures to a separate hard drive or another website so you can free up that used space.

5. Delete your recycle bin. When you delete anything off your computer it will go directly to your recycle bin on your desktop. Empty the recycle bin by selecting "Empty" and this will also help in speeding up your system.
