Habitat for Humanity, Saturday, October 8:30 a.m.

 Saturday morning the Men's Group will have a special guesthabitat speaker, Jody Gmeiner, President/CEO of the Pomona Valley Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. She will talk about an terrific upcoming opportunity for members of Saint John's to work on a home building project to benefit local families. Everyone interested helping on the project is invited to hear all about this wonderful opportunity. Breakfast will be provided. See you there!

Gardeners' Guild will be working around the Church grounds on Saturday morning as well.

 

Rummage Sale Clean Up,

Saturday, October 1:30 p.m.

The Women of Saint John's will conclude their Fall Rummage Sale at 2:00 p.m. and would greatly appreciate any and all help to close down the sale and reset the fellowship hall.  Please come by Church around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.  With enough helping hands it only takes 90 mins or so.

Join or sponsor KGK+ as she participates in IVHP 5K Walk to raise funds for local food banks.
2:30 p.m.  Junior High Youth Group meets with Jana, Shelby, Rebecca and Felicia for an afternoon of exploring God's Love.
4:00 p.m.  High School and Young Adults meet with Jana, Mike, Nathan and Jon to continue the discussion on being an adult Child of God.
There will be no 6:00 p.m. service this Sunday

Saint John's will again this year walk/run in thanksgiving for the life and witness of one of its own- Matt Myers while raises scholarship funds in his name for students who want to give back, raise up and make a difference as we know Matt was striving to do before his life was cut short.  Please prayerfully consider how you will participate:  you can volunteer to help with registration, you can walk/run the 5K course, you can donate to the Matt Myers' Scholarship Fund and, regardless, you can pray.  Please visit the website to register.

Fall Harvest Festival      Saturday, October 29

ChiliSaint John's annual Chili Cook-Off and Pie Contest will be Saturday, October 29.  This year's theme is Harvest Festival.  There will be pumpkin carving, costume contest, games, beer garden and silent auction.  A donation of $20 for chili entries and $10 for pie entries is suggested.  The chili categories are Beans, No Beans, HOT, HOT, HOT and Vegetarian.

Suggested Donation for the evening: $5 per person or $25 per family

Silent Auction items are needed: Do you have something or a skill to donate?  Maybe a timeshare, or service?  Perhaps you know of a merchant who would like a bit of free advertising and would be willing to donate an item?  Would your hairdresser be interested in donating a free haircut?  Your butcher, maybe a gift certificate?  Your dentist, a free cleaning?  Maybe your CPA/Tax person is willing to donate a free consult?  Please consider ways you can contribute to the success of this event.

Men's Retreat November 11-13 
There are a couple of spaces available for the Fall Men's Retreat:  Deacon Barrett wil co-lead with Father Rob Bethancourt and Father David Maurer a triad Men's Retreat Weekend November 11-13 at Camp Verdugo Pines.  Special guest speaker will be Brother Dennis Gibbs, who will speak on "Stress Management Within Our Faith".  The cost of the weekend is $140 and scholarships are available.  Please contact Deacon Barrett rbvanburen@msn.com for details.
