This month the Chef is Mother Kelli Grace and the menu is

Build-Your-Own-Baked-Potato

Each month a group or ministry at Saint John's will host a dinner open to everyone at Saint John's as well as anyone from the community (we want to especially welcome college students from the near by colleges).  We will try to provide some kind of live music or entertainment each month as well.  La Verne Wallace is co-coordinating this ministry.  Look for her to ask your group which month you will prepare a meal!

Do you know of some local talent who would be interested in performing at a community meal?  Let KGK+ know!

50th Anniversary Weekend

May 21-22, 2011

A grand celebration will take place the weekend of May 21-22, so SAVE THE DATE.  Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce will be with us that day as our preacher and celebrant.  Which means we will have confirmations that Sunday!  Please speak to KGK+ if you are interested in formal membership in the Episcopal Church via the sacrament of Confirmation.

If you have pictures, old bulletins, or other items that can be scanned or digitized for the 50th anniversary video and memory book, please bring them to the office clearly marked with your name and "For 50th Celebration".  If it's already in electronic media, even better!  Simply email them to

office@stjohnslaverne.org

Scott Miasano will be making a video for the 50th anniversary and would like to do "on camera" interviews with several members of the congregation.  Look for sign ups soon.

Prepare and Deliver a Meal for Our House
At the Inland Valley Hope shelter
Febraury 20 4:00 p.m.

The Youth Group will be preparing and delivering a meal to the Our House shelter on February 20th as a part of their response to the issues of poverty and hunger.  All are welcome to join them in this venture.  The goal is to provide dinner for Our House once each month.

The Congregation is asked to donate the resources needed for this project:  a signup sheet for either monetary or food donations is  in Vicenti Hall.  Please see Jana Milhon-Martin for more info.

Brown Bag Lunches a huge hit

Thanks to Bishop's Committee members past and present and the Sunday School, Saint John's delivered 50 brown bag lunches to Our House at Inland Valley Hope Partners last Sunday.  The Sunday School will be making bag lunches for Our House each first Sunday of the month.  You can help keep this ministry vital by donating "the fixins" for the lunches.  Each month we need bread, lunch meats and cheese, and fresh fruit.  Every few months we will need to resupply the chips, granola bars, bags, and such.
