Dr. Drucker's rethinking of the approach to nutritional supplements stemmed from his own health struggles with a hereditary autoimmune disease that started to manifest symptoms when he was a freshman in college. Over a relatively short period of time, he began to experience excruciating pain,  arthritis, massive weight loss, muscle wasting and weakness, fevers, as well as environmental, chemical and food sensitivities. As his health deteriorated over a period of years to the point where he was actually given a life expectancy of only 6-8 months, Dr. Drucker began studying and keying in on Linus Pauling's mineral deficiency theory that every ailment, sickness and disease can be traced back to an Organic mineral deficiency. He reasoned that Pauling was trying to demonstrate the value of minerals that contain living carbon, not inorganic, toxic and synthetic colloid minerals. That revelation set him on a path of intense study of Organic carbon, alternative therapies, homeopathic remedies and nutritional medicine.
 
Initially, Dr. Drucker began trying various colloidal minerals supplements, which led to some temporary improvement, but eventually started to increase his toxicity level. His progress subsequently halted and actually began to reverse once more. Testing revealed that the colloidal minerals were actually creating a heavy metal toxicity in his body. What Dr. Drucker discovered was the "organic" component, a chemical-free mineral, was missing. This led to the initial formulation he experimented with and which was the basis of the Drucker Labs product line. Within a few hours of taking his organic mineral formulation, he felt improvement that he had not experienced in years.
