Hello again everyone!
Back in the early 90's, for a brief period, I completely changed my eating habits as an experiment. Since my mid 30's I hadn't had the best digestive system in the world and after reading several books about "food-combining", thought I'd give it a whirl. To my utter amazement and delight, within a very short period of time, my digestive system was not only better, it was perfect! The pain, gas, cramping, etc. were gone and I felt better than I had in a very long time.
The problem at that time was I lost so much weight so quickly I started to look like I had been in a prison camp. I realized that I had jumped in too quickly rather than a gradual switch-over. Soon my old eating habits returned.
However, due to my health difficulties in the last several years, I've revamped my diet, this time gradually and have recently begun the quest to move into a much better eating routine and use proper food combining.
This month's newsletter will be a very brief overview of food combining.

If anyone has read the book "Fit For Life", you'll recognize the following two recommendations.
First, from the time you get up in the morning, until noon, eat nothing but fresh, organic fruit or raw fruit juice. This can be in the form of fruit salad, smoothies or fresh-squeezed juices.
Why? Fruit is healthy and requires very little energy to digest. Therefore, the energy can be put to better use toward detoxification, elimination and activity. I recently started doing this again with my wife and wouldn't you know it - I feel better, lighter and have more energy!

Second, combine your foods properly. From noon until evening, the remainder of your meals should be small and combined in a way that will not interfere with digestion.
Our stomachs produce different acids depending on what food is present to digest both acid and alkaline foods. Therefore, when we combine an acid food with an alkaline food in the same meal or very close together, the acids neutralize each other, the food sits in the stomach for hours upon hours, digesting poorly and passing through the digestive tract without the needed food breakdown for proper nutrient absorption.
According to Harvey Diamond, there are basically two categories of foods that need to be combined properly: 1) complex foods - proteins such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy, and starches such as bread, pasta, potatoes and all grains. And 2) simple foods such as veggies and salads.
What you don't want to do is have two different complex foods at the same meal (proteins and starches), but rather have a complex food (either a protein or a starch) with a simple food (vegetables and salad).
One last thing, you can eat fruit anytime you want during the day as long as it's eaten by itself and at least 3 hours away from any other types of foods.
That's it! Following those simple rules of fruit until noon and proper food combining is a very easy and effective method of increasing energy, allowing your body to cleanse itself and increasing your digestive capabilities substantially!
I could write volumes regarding the physiology and reasoning behind this eating philosophy, but hopefully I've given you enough information to peak your interest and cause you to experiment a little. |
After a few weeks on this program, drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. And as always, make sure you are getting enough liquid organic nutrition by continuing your intraMax, intraMin or intraKid dosages! Thank you once again for reading!
Until next month, I remain yours in good health!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike
