Katy ISD Announces Outstanding First Year Teachers of the Year
Katy ISD recently surprised two teachers with the District Wide Outstanding First Year Teacher of the Year Award. Franz Elementary teacher Jessica Dunlap, and Seven Lakes High School teacher Scarlett Elliot, were chosen for the elementary and secondary awards respectively. Katy ISD Students Take Top Spots in Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Competition
Three Katy ISD students have won top spots in the 2012 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art competition. Two of the awards were secured by high school students, landing them spots in the annual art auction. The auction is open to the public and takes place on Sunday, March 11, at the Reliant Center. CoSN Honors Katy ISD with 2012 TEAM Award
The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) presented its 2012 TEAM Award to Katy ISD during its annual conference in Washington, D.C., this week. CoSN recognizes a team of technology leaders in a U.S. K-12 school district for using technology in an impactful way to help reimagine the classroom. Katy ISD was selected as this year's recipient for enhancing teaching and learning through its proven technology infrastructure and strong partnership with parents, teachers and school leaders. Two Katy ISD Orchestras Perform at Renowned Midwest Clinic
A total of 76 students from Beckendorff Junior High and 77 students from Taylor High School traveled to Chicago to perform at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago last December. The groups, two of nine school groups from around the world to perform, were chosen from a pool of more than 150 applicants after undergoing a rigorous application process. The Beckendorff Symphony Orchestra is led by Matthew Porter, and the James E. Taylor High School Symphony Orchestra is led by George Engelmann. Read more...

Canady Named Principal of McRoberts Elementary
During the February Board meeting, Superintendent Alton Frailey announced the reassignment of Marcy Canady as principal of Polly McRoberts Elementary. Canady has been with Katy ISD since 2008, when she joined as assistant superintendent of school and community engagement and most recently served as founding executive director of the Katy ISD Education Foundation. Katy ISD School Naming Public Forum Notice
Katy ISD has announced a public forum for the naming of new elementary schools #33, #34, and #35, as well as the new junior high school #13. The forum will take place on Tuesday, March 20, from 6 -7 p.m. in the Katy ISD ESC 1200 Rooms located at 6301 S. Stadium Lane. Read more...
