Membership Subs Due!

pressreleases

It's that time of year again - over €12,000 is now currently due to your Association from arrears on membership fees. We have had to suffer some significant cashflow losses with the PJT collapse last December and are feeling the commercial strain of trying to maintain services on a shoestring. Please if you are being chased with statements and phone calls - try and pay your dues on time .

The monthly or quarterly standing order or direct debit is available  to everyone . We understand Grants are not in , or in some cases not confirmed but in the scheme of things if we can't collect dues ; we wont have an existence. When looking at your budget this year - please don't eliminate all your affiliations and subscriptions - it's an easy cut but with the sector under siege somewhat now more than ever we need to support each other.  If you can't pay what you officially owe ; phone us and lets see if we can out a schedule together that will assist us both.

Greetings From AOIFE

Hi Everyone , well the scale of the challenge to just exist is becoming apparent with most of the Arts Council's decisions delivered and some of the early FI pledges confirming just how difficult it is going be.

Municipalities and Local Authorities are also experiencing a collapse in earned revenues ; consequently their capacity for discretionary expenditure  is much reduced.

Without a full mapping exercise complete - our tallies see public funding cuts from anywhere between 7%  and 35% to individual organisations across all the agencies.

News from the Commerical World is just as bruising - reports suggest that cash sponsorship will be at an all time low this year BUT that creative partnerships with Sponsorships - in kind,  have the capacity to yield good benefits for both parties.

The Hospitality Trade are open to discussing with any operator how to increase footfall, bednights and custom ; so obvious synergies need to be re- ignited there.

IF there is a sliver lining - it is that trends and anecdotal evidence is strongly suggesting that regional and local audiences - still will respond to quality programming that gives good value for money. Therein lies the challenge for us all.

Make use of the networks - formal , informal - look again at sharing all types of resources and platforms - attend as many learning and sharing opportunities as you can ; cause we all have to think outside the box !

Don't be afraid to give the AOIFE office a call - we may not be personally be able to assist you but we will find a colleague who can .

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as we can at the Masterclass in Cork and indeed the Community Festivals Networking Day in Ballinasloe.

intern
With last year's exponential growth of Facebook and Twitter, marketers accept that social media is a requisite element of any integrated marketing strategy. Deadline looming for Small arts festivals scheme

irishfestmilwaukee
The Small Arts Festivals Scheme is designed in the main to support and provide opportunities for small arts festivals or events seeking funding of up to €20,000.

Closing Deadline: Feb 18th 2010

The Small Arts Festivals Scheme is intended to provide the flexibility required by the full range of arts organisations availing of this scheme: from local events with short lead in times, requiring only modest sums, to more ambitious initiatives involving longer planning cycles and requiring more in terms in funding. The scheme is intended to be user-friendly and to encourage new applicants from many smaller or locally based events. Events can be either one-off projects or programmed over a number of months. If you are organising a series of events that will run throughout the year (e.g. a concert series) or you think you need longer planning time  you are advised to contact the Head of Festivals directly before submitting your application.

Calgary festivals to get boost from new funding plan

calgary festival
Festival organizers will save thousands of dollars in security, traffic control and other fees through a new commitment from aldermen to make Calgary more festival-friendly.

Street parties, such as the 4th Street Lilac Festival or Marda Gras, had to scramble for last-minute charity or sponsorship under the burden of massive city bills for things like road closures and policing, but those will now be fully covered by city hall.

"Without the financial restriction, we're able to offer the community and the city the true representation of the festival we've always set out to display," said Jash Sandhu of the Marda Loop business coalition, which ran 33rd Avenue S.W.'s annual Marda Gras.
