Hope you are all having a wonderful summer, with time for fun, relaxation, and family.
Summer is a busy time for us at the LearningSuccess Institute: - families enroll or re-enroll in our home school program
- parents come for consultations so they can be prepared to support their children when they begin school in September
- schools set up our online learning style profiles and training for staff
- we often speak at conferences or attend events such as the Ventura Book Festival that took place this past weekend
- Summer is a time of preparation for the school year ahead!

 Are You Prepared!
While it is true that summer is break time (as we said in last month's newsletter), it is also the perfect time to learn all you can about your children's learning styles, BEFORE school begins!
Whether your child attends traditional school or home school, you can prepare NOW to support your children in their learning, and to facilitate more successful learning experiences.
The key is this: do everything you can to become the expert when it comes to how your child learns best!
If you are home schooling, customize your children's curriculum to meet learning needs - know their Dispositions, Modalities, Interests, Talents, and Best Environment, and incorporate these aspects of learning style into the program. That might mean ditching textbooks, if that is what you are used to, and using movies, books on tape, hands-on building, the making of videos, etc. Does your child hate History - propose exploring the history of an Interest - such as fashion, wars, animals, music...and talk it all over with your children - getting their input is important!
If your children attend traditional school, come up with a plan for homework that taps into their learning styles, make a list of learning styles strategies you would like to try, plan out discussions you might have with the new teachers...and talk it all over with your children - getting their input is important!
How do you figure out your children's learning styles?
Through observation or by using a learning style profile.
Whichever route you choose, remember that you are your child's most important teacher and you have the power to be your children's Success Coaches, by bringing out the stars that shine inside each of them!

 The LearningSuccess Homeschool Program
The LearningSuccess Institute is registered as a private school in California. We offer a full elementary through high school program, and students receive a high school diploma. If you are home schooling and would like a certified LearningSuccess Coach to be your mentor throughout the year, consider joining our program...
