Summer Announcements
Although we are still having gloomy, overcast weather here on the California coast, we know that there is plenty of sunshine around the country signaling that summer is about to begin!
In the first two articles we encourage individuals and families to take a break during the summer and make time for interests and things you love to do. That could include taking a class, learning something new, and deepening your understanding about a topic you care about. With this in mind we have set up several workshops:

 Summer-a great time to pursue interests
Last month we encouraged all parents to celebrate their children. If your child did not participate in the Awards Ceremony at school, we recommended that you have one at home.
This month we are recommending that you encourage your child's interests during the summer months. It's time to take a break from academics! Children of all Talents, learning Dispositions, and Modalities can pursue what they love!
Sometimes we think that we have to make BIG PLANS for the summer when actually our children might be very happy to pursue some of their favorite things. This is the time of the year when a Thinking/Creating Disposition child can read or wonder, or dream, or draw all day long and into the night. This is the time of the year when an Inventing Disposition child can chase creepy crawly things through the grasses or work on the latest computer something-or-other. This is the time that Relating / Inspiring Disposition children can finally get together to their hearts' content. It is the time that a Performing Disposition child can get the kinks out and ride bikes, skateboard, dance, put on plays and revues...in other words, MOVE a lot!
And, believe it or not, even Producing Disposition children (those perfect school kids) have interests outside of school; they often gladly welcome some time to be free from the structure and regimentation of academics so that they can pursue what they like without time or grade pressures.
We all need time to follow our Interests, so ask your kids what they would like to do and see what happens!

 Summer is for parents, too...
Summer is a good time to change the pace for adults, too-not just the kids! We realize that "little things" like jobs and family obligations can take most of your time, but we encourage you to re-discover that interest or hobby that you haven't thought about in so long that it lives somewhere in the back of your mind covered with cobwebs!
Dust it off, get excited about it again, and make some time for it. Who knows-you might love it so much that it could even take you into a new career path!
At the least, you will feel refreshed and renewed because you are filling your spirit with something that makes you feel great.
So dig out your water color brushes or your tennis racquet and really get into the swing of summer!

The James Kindel  Scholarship Fund
We are grateful to Lupe Hernandez Kindel for establishing a scholarship fund at the LearningSuccess Institute in the name of her deceased husband James Kindel.
Mr. Kindel worked as an attorney in Los Angeles where he was well-known for his support of the arts and community events. He was an avid learner himself and during his lifetime actively encouraged and contributed to learning opportunities for others.
The James Kindel Scholarship Fund has been used to defray costs for participants in our Level 1 LearningSuccess Coach Training Program and our LearningSuccess Homeschool Program.

 The LearningSuccess Homeschool Program
The LearningSuccess Institute is registered as a private school in California. We offer a full elementary through high school program, and students receive a high school diploma. What is so great about our program? Lot of things!
