What's Happening at Trista-Harris

Headwaters!

Give2MaxThank you!  On Give to the Max Day (November 16), the launch of our year-end fund drive was met with an incredible show of generosity. We want to thank everyone who helped us more than double the amount raised last year!  With $17,960 donated online plus a $15,000 match, we raised a total of $32,960. As we approach the end of 2011, we have $55,000 more to raise to reach our goal for the year.  Over 400 individuals pool their resources to generate the grants we give out to the community.  This is our biggest fundraising push of the year. If you have not done so already, please make your gift today!

E4AllI am excited to report that Headwaters has established the Equality for All Families Fund for LGBTQ equality. In the fall of 2012, voters will decide if marriage will be constitutionally denied to Gay and Lesbian couples. We believe that every family deserves the full support and protections that society has to offer. It's all about love. Won't you join us?   A gift to the Equality for All Families Fund will support organizations working to expand the base of allied support on issues of LGBTQ equality in our state.

FSCAt the end of November we awarded grants to four Minnesota and Wisconsin based nonprofits through the Fund of the Sacred Circle. Anishinaabe O'de received $5,000, Phillips Indian Educators received a grant of $10,000, Waadookodaading Language Immersion Charter School was the recipient of a two-year grant of $10,000 per year, and WI Indian Education Association received a grant of $10,000. Thanks to all who continue to support the Fund of the Sacred Circle, including the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, which recently made a grant to the Fund.

V4JThe October Voices for Justice Concert was a huge success! Thank you everyone who came out to show their support. The music was great--another shout out to Mayda, Maria Isa, and M.anifest for putting on a fantastic show.

Grantee Spotlight:

Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI)

The Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI) is building economic momentum in the local American Indian community.

The Twin Cities American Indian community lags behind most other ethnic groups in the metropolitan region on many indicators of well-being, including income, education attainment, homeownership and health status...
