What's Happening
at Headwaters

It's fall and we are back to school!  I want to welcome our new board members Ellis Bullock of the Grotto Foundation, Alicia Phillips of Redwood Philanthropic Advisors and fundraising consultant Susan Raffo to Headwaters along with our fall interns April Graves and Ellen Fisher.

We completed some serious homework over the summer, launching our Online Learning Library, which will serve as a free and permanent resource for nonprofits.  Headwaters also organized a convening of the African American Leadership Forum  in July, which began with a Friday evening gubenatorial candidate forum.

Headwaters is in full swing as we head into the final weeks of September.  Meetings with applicants to the Fund of the Sacred Circle will take place in October--contact Jodi Williams if you are interested in participating and learning more about the organizations you are supporting.

Also in October we will be convening leaders from 20 midwest environmental justice organizations to strategize on energy, health, water and climate change and the impact on low-income communities.  See below for opportunities to join in the conversation, all of which were made possible with a grant from Midwest Common Vision.

We hope to see you soon!

Mario is an average guy. He works hard to support his three daughters, one in college, one in high school and one in elementary school. Yet despite his dedicated hard work, long hours and budgeting, Mario has discovered that one job in an unjust workplace isn't sufficient to take care of his family.

"I was employed at a place that had a United Way campaign and a lot of organizations I was interested in supporting weren't on that list.  I noticed that Headwaters had started a new monthly giving program, so I decided to sign up for that."
