Accessibility Assessments:

Major Findings and Trends in Physical and Programmatic Access

for Visitors with Disabilities

Thursday, September 6, 2012

2 to 3:30 pm EST

What are some of the most common physical and programmatic barriers for visitors with disabilities uncovered through the assessment process? What are the emerging trends? What can park units learn from this data to improve access for visitors with disabilities?

Over the last four years, the National Center on Accessibility has conducted accessibility assessments at more than 50 national parks. Assessment teams have collected some of the most comprehensive data on deficiencies, corrective actions for work orders and cost estimates addressing accessibility improvements to visitor centers, interpretive programs, picnic areas, campgrounds and trails. This 90-minute free webinar will present the major findings and emerging trends from condition assessments performed by the National Center on Accessibility. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and gain insight to improving access at their park unit.
