Calling All Veteran Business Owners

Hometown HeroesAre you a veteran who owns your own business? Do you have the skills and determination to start one?

If you answered "yes" to either question, then the Mission: Veterans 2 Entrepreneurs (MV2E) event is for you, especially if you want to learn how to market your products and services to state and federal government agencies, plus public and private companies.

Hosted by the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs (IDVA) and Illinois Central Management Services (CMS), this summit will communicate how Illinois veterans can have their businesses be certified as veteran-owned business in the State of Illinois and be eligible for the 3% goal of all state contracts and services. In addition, MV2E will bring together an array of federal, state, and local agencies and organizations to discuss procurement opportunities including, but not limited to the Illinois Small Business Set Aside Program, the Illinois Business Enterprise Program, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB), the Cook County - Office of the Chief Procurement Officer, the U.S. Government Services Administration (GSA), the Illinois Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) and many others. A flyer, including a list of participating organizations, is available for download.

MV2E will take place from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m., on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Teamsters Local 705 Auditorium, 300 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago, IL 60612.

To RSVP for the event, please contact IDVA's Alberto Lopez at [email protected] or by calling (312) 814-1272.
