Spring Break

I'm certain we all agree that spring break cannot come soon enough this year. Students and teachers have been working very hard this school year and are looking forward to a well deserved break. School will be closed all next week and will open again on Monday, March 27.
Student Spotlight

Physics and Anatomy teacher and Science Fair Coordinator Dr. Melissa Georgi shines the student spotlight on Adam Ridenour (7I).  "Adam was an invaluable help during the Science Fair and, without his help, the Science Fair would not have been such a major success.  He dedicated several hours today to a thankless task and did an admirable job."

Part of the Pi Day celebration in Marcie Longstaff's Math class included a pi memorization contest. Students were given the first 1000 digits of pi and were given 24 hours to prepare. Vivek Ravi (6Ar) didn't just win, he destroyed the competition with a whopping 151 digits. WOW!

Ms. Longstaff also reports that Grace Lyons
(6He) treated her class to a plethora of pies during lunch. Hey, what's the point of a celebration if there's no food? Nice move, Grace!
Science Fair a Success

The first annual BASIS Peoria Science Fair was held Wednesday in the school gymnasium and it was quite a success. Sixty-eight students displayed a total of 51 projects.

Silk Road Passport

BASIS Peoria's "Silk Road Passport" event will be on Saturday, April 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. It will focus on celebrating our diverse school community through a country-based showcase of fine arts, dance, music,
historical and cultural presentations, and delicious foods.

To make the event successful we need both student and parent volunteers to help oversee a country or continent.

Please notify any of the following teachers in the Silk Road Team in person or by email if you are available to help and what country you are interested in exhibiting no later than Sunday, March 25th. There will be a meeting after spring break for everyone involved.
