Greetings!
When is the last time you giggled, wiggled and had some real fun? For our youth Club Members, they proudly will tell you "every day I'm at The Club!".
That's because we're always working hard to ensure that our youth have fun, educational, and active programs to participate in.
In this, our first issue of our new monthly eNewsletter, you will learn how your support of "The Club" is changing lives every day!
Thank you for being a source of light and hope to the youth of the Leech Lake area.
We appreciate you!
P.S. ~ Take a moment to check out our brand new website . You'll be the first to see it as it just launched today! | |

Opening Up to a Whole New World
Jiselle loves her new friends and being involved with all the activities The Club offers. But it wasn't always that way.
Nine months ago when six-year-old Jiselle first came to the club, she was shy and didn't want to participate in many activities. With consistent, but gentle encouragement from staff, we saw this quiet little girl step out of her comfort zone and open herself up to meeting new friends.
Over time she has built relationships (with both staff and other Club Members), become more open and affectionate, become more approachable (a better communicator), uses good manners (knows when to apologize and uses please and thank you often), and enjoys being at the Club! She also gets along better with her sister at the Club.
Today Jiselle is involved in as many activities as she can be - and always interested in learning something new. Her favorite activities are being active by using the jump ropes and hula hoops, and being creative by coloring with stencils and markers. She now even freely plays with other club members that she may not know as well.
We are very proud of Jiselle for all her accomplishments!

Leaders in the Making
|
Savannah loved meeting all the new people at the conference. |
Leadership development is one of the cornerstone initiatives of the Boys & Girls Club.
We are consistently encouraging youth to take on leadership roles within the Club, as well as providing training programs.
In addition, this year, a team of three outstanding youth, Savannah Bedeau, Mary Jane Bobolink, and Darian "Perry" Foster, were chosen to attend the week-long From the Four Directions - A Journey to Leadership conference in Grand Forks, ND.
This was a special opportunity for the youth to immerse themselves in various leadership topics such as: Conflict Resolution and Negotiation, Cross-Cultural Communication, Financial Literacy and Dealing with Peer Pressure.
Camp participant Savannah had this to say about her experience, "I most enjoyed getting to meet lots of new people. They came from all over. Places like Canada, Ohio, Alaska, and Arizona. We talked a lot about how to stand up for ourselves and how to open up some more. I feel more confident now too."
We are grateful for the vital partnerships that make it possible for us to be able to offer our youth these special opportunities.

It is the financial support of community members like yourself that make all of these wonderful opportunities available to the youth in our area. A gift of $10 will cover the membership fee so two new youth can join the club this year. Give a gift today.

Did You Know?
- We serve nearly 1,000 youth each month.
- More than 19,000 snacks have been provided to youth in 2011.
- Just under 2,000 evening meals have been eaten at our clubs this year. Many times this was the only option for the youth for a healthy meal.
