Smithsonian American Art Museum
Civil War Videoconference Opportunity

Do you teach outside of the Washington, DC area? Don't miss out on the upcoming distance learning opportunity designed for the 2012-2013 special exhibition The Civil War and American Art!

American Art Education has combined interactive video conferences with peer-to-peer learning and classroom work to better explore the ambiguity and anxiety of the Civil War. Museum staff will use artworks to consider the human narrative - the daily experiences of soldiers, enslaved people, and families left behind. Students will examine different perspectives and factors that contributed to the complexity of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Additional activities will further support students' understanding of this complex subject.

Fall session starts on September 27 so don't delay and sign up now!

This program is being offered in conjunction with MAGPI. For more information about the program and to register for either the fall or spring series, visit http://www.magpi.net/Community/Programs/Civil-War-and-American-Art.
