The Art of the High Score: Pac-Man Edition!

Playing Pac-ManHow good are you at Pac-Man? We're holding a tournament on Saturday, August 4 to see who can get the highest score in 4 minutes (or until you run out of lives) on the classic game in The Art of Video Games exhibition. The people with the top two scores at the end of the day will receive awesome prizes!

We have time for fifty people to play. Registration will begin at noon on August 4 in the exhibition galleries on the third floor of the American Art Museum. Just look for the person (probably me) with a clipboard near the Pac-Man game. Game play will begin at 12:30 p.m.; the winners will be announced at 5 p.m. (you do not have to be present at the end to win, so long as you leave us contact info!). Full details are on our calendar.

If that isn't enough excitement for one day, there will also be a "Museum Quest" available for you to play, organized and run by StreetPass DC. To participate, bring a six-sided die and a device capable of taking and sharing photographs such as a Nintendo DSi/3DS or a cell phone. Find the man in the red Mario hat in the Luce Foundation Center on the third floor of the museum (after you exit The Art of Video Games galleries) to receive your quest list and begin the game.

AND FINALLY, be sure to save the date for GameFest 2.0 on Saturday, September 8. This will be a one-day version of the opening festival that we held in March, with open play, live action gaming, craft activities, a book signing, and talks. It will be GREAT!

Whew! Hope to see you on August 4 AND September 8. Questions? Email AmericanArtGames@si.edu.
