Smithsonian American Art Museum

December can slip right past us, what with the decking of the halls, and the wassailing and such. But don't forget that, while rushing from office parties to school pageants, we all should take some time to make holiday memories with the loved ones in our lives. Here at the Smithsonian American Art Museum we value time spent with family and friends, and we want to provide you not only an exciting space in which to make those memories, but also activities to inspire and delight the child in all of us. If you cannot attend any of the following events, stop in anytime to share our great collection and exhibitions with someone you love. We promise it will be memorable.

 Renwick Holiday Festival
 December 3 from 11am - 2pm

Celebrate the holiday season in presidential fashion! Create your own White House china pattern & holiday ornaments while sipping hot apple cider. A scavenger hunt through the Something of Splendor galleries just may lead to a meeting with Grace Coolidge, Dolly Madison, and Teddy Roosevelt!
 Art a la Cart
 December 11 from 1 - 4pm

Kids ages seven to twelve can explore works in the galleries through interactive carts containing brushes and palettes, bison horns, bottle caps, and quilt squares. Pick up Art la Cart maps and passports at information desks in F Street and G Street Lobbies.

 Sketching: Draw and Discover!
 Tuesdays from 3 - 4:30pm

Join a discussion about artists' sketches, then spend time sketching some of the more than 3,300 artworks on display in the Luce Foundation Center. Bring a small sketchbook and pencils. Program open to all ages; children should be accompanied by an adult.
