Greetings!

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe 2012 is already here.

2011 was a spectacular year for TSA-IL.  A few

of our highlights included new events such as Family Night with Dr. Michael Himle (University of Utah), Family Outing at Rainbow Falls Waterpark, Adult Night out at Champps along with our annual events, Run for the Roses, Golf Classic and the Annual Picnic.

To reach out to more people, we joined the Facebook & Twitter Communities.  Our very own Sande Shamash (Executive Director) shared information about TSA-IL on the Dialogues with Dan show on Rockland World Radio.

TSA-IL has many wonderful things lined up for 2012 including on-line community support, James Durbin Concert outing,  family night with Dr. Doug Woods, additional Community Groups, a new website and more!

Thank you for all your generous support in 2011 whether you made a donation (monetary, time, items or an idea), volunteered, attended functions or shared kind words.  TSA-IL wouldn't be the amazing group that we are without your support.

Sincerely,

Tourette Syndrome Association of Illinois (TSA-IL)

James Durbin Concert, Fri, Jan 27th @ 8:00 pm
Different is the New Normal
James Durbin Jan 27th

Rocker James Durbin dazzled judges and received more than 72 million votes while on American Idol Season 10.  Now it's your chance to see James in an intimate setting at:

The Fuel Room

Austin's Saloon and Eatery

481 Peterson Road, Libertyville, IL

Tickets start at $15.00 and can be  purchased on line. (Several TSA-IL members purchased the $25 tickets).  Per Austin's policy you must 21 to attend the concert.

In November, Durbin debuted his first album "Memories of a Beautiful Disaster" (Wind-up Records). According to Billboard.com, "It echos the singer that fans heard on "Idol": a sensitive, passionate rock geek who has struggled with Tourette's syndrome. The album bows at No. 36 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 8 on Rock Albums with 28,000 sold.

"The underlying theme of the album is bullying and being an outsider, because growing up, I wasn't the popular kid at school," Durbin says. "I've heard from fans about how inspiring I am to their kids through singing covers on 'Idol,' and now I get to put out my record and give these people real emotion, stuff that I've gone through and someone to look up to."

James also appeared in the PBS documentary about Tourette Syndrome, Different is the New Normal (featuring Illinois families, The Smalls and The Wilinskis, while centering on teen Ariel Small).

Still not sure? View James singing the Beatle's With a Little Help From My Friends, Muse's Uprising and the timeless classic Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.   For additional information about this rocker visit James' Website

Order your tickets soon if you are interested in going!
