Season's Greetings!
The holidays are a time of wonder and joy, and in that spirit, a time of giving and sharing. Built upon a foundation strengthened by our many partners: the families who will become new homeowners, our many volunteers, and our many donors and supporters, HFHLPC would not be the organization it is and able to make the difference it does in our community without the remarkable support and collaborative efforts of each of you.
Through the continued commitment and dedication of each of you - the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that give of their time and donations, we are about to embark on a New Year filled with exciting new endeavors for our new Partner Families and both HFHLPC. As we begin to raise funds and enlist your efforts in helping us to build the two homes slated for the coming year, it is our long-term goal to increase our capacity and the services we provide. Expanding upon our Family Services and Education Programs, as well as the offerings in the Habitat ReStore, we want to remain the vital neighborhood resource upon which so many of you have relied and supported over the years - a testament to the heartwarming commitment of all of us who are blessed to call this area Home, all of us who actively participate to make a positive impact on those served by HFHLPC, and all of us who participate in creating the community we desire. While 2010 draws to a close, it's not too late to make your online donation before year's end, just click here.
On behalf of the HFHLPC Staff and Board of Directors, we want to wish all of you a lovely Holiday Season and a New Year filled with peace and hope - a New Year filled with laughter and adventure!
With Warmest Wishes -
Barbara Blundell

 | Fundraising & Upcoming Events |
Held on Friday, November 5, 2010, the 12th Annual Liquor World Wine Tasting Gala & Silent Auction saw an amazing turnout and another successful fundraising event to support HFHLPC and its mission. With a myriad of silent auction items on which to bid, the music of the Thom Radar Band, over 200 wines and liquors to sample, as well as hors d'oeuvres and deserts provided by many of Durango's highly acclaimed restaurants, it was an evening filled with good friends, lively conversation, and the contagious spirit of community that speaks to Durango's commitment to giving and civic pride. Thank you to the many volunteers, and the HFHLPC staff and board members -- all of whom donated countless hours towards the planning and success of this year's event. And, many thanks to our Event Supporters and Sponsors: Leading Sponsors: The DoubleTree Hotel and Liquor World; and our Supporting Sponsors: Alpine Bank, Basin Printing, and Directory Plus. The proceeds of this annual event benefit Habitat's 2011 Build.
New in 2011: March 2011 will be host to the inaugural black tie HFHLPC Winter Ball. Still in its planning stages, this soon to be annual event will feature wine tastings and pairings, all under a winter white canopy to dazzle your senses and celebrate our community and our supporters.
For the summer, get ready to exercise your mind and your legs! We're excited to announce HFHLPC's First Annual Scavenger Hunt! Sure to be an annual FUN-Raiser for the whole family, this new fundraising event promises to have you laughing and scratching your head all at the same time....
Stay tuned for more details about these two new events...Including news of our annual Chili Cook-off, a Fill The Truck Event, and more!

 | Habitat ReStore |
Earlier this month, the Habitat ReStore and HFHLPC Offices moved to its new home located at 120-E Girard Street, in Bodo Park. With such a supportive community that continues to make quality donations to the ReStore, and those in our community who value the re-purposing and reuse of these items through their Habitat ReStore purchases, we have expanded our operations and moved into a much larger space that will allow us to expand upon our inventory. A Grand Opening Celebration was held on Saturday, December 18, 2010, to celebrate this stage in our organization's growth. Decorated for the holidays with refreshments and cookies being served amid the festive sounds of holiday music, shoppers enjoyed the chance to browse the ReStore's latest wares, with hourly drawings being held and the chance to win items that included collectible Christmas ornaments, new bedding and bath sets, with the Grand Prize being a Christmas tree decorated by our staff and volunteers.
Many, many thanks to our staff, volunteers and board members who put in extra hours helping to move everything from our old location to our new one, as well as paint, clean and set up shop here in Bodo Park! Thank you!
Don't forget to check out the Habitat ReStore online to view the latest specials and coupons. And, please see below for a special offer contained in this issue of the HFHLPC eNewlsetter.

In closing and in saying good bye to 2010, about to begin my sixth month as the new Executive Director of HFHLPC, I remain honored to be a part of this organization and this community.
We closed on our two newest homes this past fall, and during the Blessing and Dedication Ceremony were witness to very touching, tearful words of appreciation and awe by our newest homeowners, Angie O'Brien, and Amy Briscoe and her two sons, Justin and Joe.
Grateful to the many who contribute large and small, contribute of their time, their donations, and their ongoing support and enthusiasm of our mission as advocates for affordable housing and education programs, providing and meeting this basic need of shelter - a need in our community in which we have more applicants than we have homes, I am humbled by the outpouring of support that our local Habitat affiliate receives.
My heartfelt thanks for all that you have given to make 2010 a year of achieving new goals, and many thanks in advance for helping HFHLPC in its aspiration to meet an even greater need in 2011 -
With Many Blessings for the New Year -
Barbara Blundell
Executive Director
