A fond Farewell

By now everyone has gotten to know and love Denise McWeeney who has worked in the pro shop for more than 2 years. Denise has pondered thoughtfully about being a "Stay at home mom" and has decided this is the right time. For those that don't know, Denise has 5 kids, yes 5!
Denise has been a huge asset to our family here at Hollywood Beach Golf Resort. She will be sorely missed by all of us.
There is always a silver lining, Denise will not be far. She will be filling in for the guys when they go on vacation and other times.
Denise does want everyone to know she is chairing a golf tournament, "Golf For Kidney Sake" which will be held October 6th here at Hollywood Beach Golf Resort.

Our Restaurant and Lounge is now being managed and operated by Stacey and Joel Rudy. The Rudy's have resided in the Hollywood Lakes area for the last couple of years and bring extensive business experience to our resort. Take your daughter to the course
Share your favorite sport with your favorite child during Take Your Daughter to the Course Week!
Hollywood Beach Golf Resort will be hosting this event offering a FREE greens fee to young women accompanied by a paying adult during the month of July and host at least one free clinic. Use this opportunity to take your daughter, granddaughter, or niece to our course and introduce her to your favorite pastime.
Take Your Daughter to the Course Week 2012 is presented by The National Golf Course Owners Association, in cooperation with The PGA, LPGA, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, and EWGA.

 Golf tip from PGA Director of Golf, Paul Steward
This month I am going to focus on the putting stroke and the importance of forward shaft lean at impact with the putter. All putters have an average of 4 degrees of loft on the face, even though as we look at the club it looks like a square angle. We must impart a stroke that will not add loft to the face through impact, which makes the ball leave the ground. If the ball jumps up at impact we have created backspin with the putt and it will not roll true to the hole. If you watch the PGA pros on tour you notice that when they putt the ball rolls low off the putter with no "skidding" effect.
They achieve this stroke by keeping the putter low through the hitting area and by keeping the shaft of the putter leaning forward to de-loft the putter. The forward shaft lean can be done at address by simply placing your hands ahead of the ball or by forward pressing the putter before the take away.
The forward lean must be maintained throughout the stroke with "firm" wrists to get the ball rolling forward. What we don't want is the club head passing our hands at impact. That "flipping" motion with our wrists adds loft, which is no good! I hope this advice helps you to make more putts and continue to shot better scores!
