Marge Corabetta celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. Marge is a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Nativity Church in Hollywood. Age means nothing as she also gives Communion to patients at Memorial Regional Hospital.  May you have many more great years Marge!  

     

Nikki's On The Green will be hosting another very special milestone birthday - Mr. Isador Scher will celebrate his 100th birthday with us at Hollywood Beach Golf Resort. Happy 100 years young

 

Congratulations to the Chaminade-Madonna's Class of 171.  The class celebrated with an entire weekend devoted to 40 years of memories.  The hotel was booked, the golf course was played and the pool was a graeat meeting place.  Over 100 alumni attended the big bash (the 40 year prom) with a live band and a delicious buffet dinner.  We overheard them say they had a "rockin and rollin great time".

Eco Golf Club hosted the American Legions Post 92 Annual Golf Tournament.  The organizers, Bill Breen and Tim Stewart put together another fantastic golf outing.  Afterwards they went back to the Post for a great steak dinner while enjoying the awards presentation. 

Bill and Tim would like to invite all golfers to join them every Sunday morning at Eco Golf Club for the Breakfast Club Golf League.  They tee-off at 7:00am and the cost is $13.00 + tax. This includes green fee and cart.  Please call the Eco Golf Club for more details. 954-922-8755

It could not have been a more gorgeous day! Not a

cloud in the sky for the Artand Culture Center of Hollywood to have their Third Annual Golf for Art Fund-raiser.

The golfersteed up at 8:00am after having a complimentary

continental breakfast. Refreshments and fresh fruit were served during the tournament followed by a luncheon, live auction and awards presentation

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood presents contemporary gallery exhibitions, live stage performances and high-quality education programs for adults and children. The Center fosters a creative environment where new and challenging work can flourish through programs that reflect the highest standards of artistry and diversity. It is currently designated by the State of Florida as a significant historical structure.

Golf Tips to Live by

The short game in golf is no doubt very important as in most rounds you will hit at least 60 percent of your shots from inside 120 yards. Learning how to hit chip shots is important and there are certain key things you need to do well. The first step is to assess the lie as this will determine how you setup to the ball.  The stance:  When setting up to hit a chip shot you want to use an open stance so this means that if you are a right handed golfer then your feet should point to the left of the target. For most chip shots you will want the ball positioned towards your right foot as this will encourage hitting the ball first avoiding hitting what they call fat shots. 


You also want to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible as this will make it easier to get the ball close to the hole. Practice is very important in order to learn how to deal with the various lies while developing touch.

   

Try to spend around 60 percent of your practice time on your short game. Practicing for one hour would be spending at least 35-40 minutes working on wedges, putting, chipping and bunker play.

 

It should also be noted that when you are chipping do not break the wrists after making ball contact with the club face. This will result in maintaining the straight line between the club shaft and the left hand after contact. Practice some of the above mentioned golfing tips to help you save shots on the course resulting in a smiling face along with lower scores.
