Lube Corner
By Scott Fancher, Director of Lubricant Sales
Friends and Customers:
I assume most people know today what a lubricant is supposed to do. First and foremost a lubricants basic job is to reduce friction and minimize wear. Other duties of a lubricant are to prevent corrosion, transmit power, seal out contaminants, transmit or dissipate heat and cool parts. When an end user decides to switch brands of lubricant whether it be to Chevron, Total, Citgo etc.... and they have machine failure, most people automatically assume it's the lubricant or new lubricant that caused this failure. In all actuality a machine like failure is due to the following:

From Our Winning Team to Yours
By Kyle Lehne
On the tenth anniversary of 9/11/01, we paid our respects as a nation to the nearly 3,000 victims and their surviving families, friends, and co-workers who died at the hands of the despicable terrorists who attacked the twin towers of the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon; and, who were responsible for the tragic crash of American Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA. We as a nation showed our compassion on September 11, 2011 for those who have to deal with the heartache and loss; particularly the spouses and children. It was so heart wrenching watching the media coverage where family members of those who were killed read the names of those who died on that fateful day. May God bless the families who have endured 10 years of pain, and to our nation who has done its level best to avenge these cowardly acts, and to keep us safe from other such actions by our enemies.
Sun Coast was called on in mid August by many of its customers to provide emergency response fueling services as Hurricane Irene pounded the Atlantic seaboard, dumping massive rainfall from the Gulf Coast to eastern Canada. Millions were without power, and many states in the northeast amassed billions of dollars in damage due to widespread flooding and wind damage.
As of this writing, Sun Coast still has disaster response crews situated in a number of the hardest hit areas. During periods of peril Sun Coast has the resources and expertise to respond quickly with an arsenal of emergency response fueling equipment to handle whatever comes along. With widespread utility outages, generators are the life line of most companies, hospitals, telecommunication towers, office buildings, hotels, military installations and government agencies. Since generators require fuel and vigilant monitoring during the outage, Sun Coast field response teams have been working around the clock to keep these entities operational. Providing fuel to first responders is also a very important part of our disaster response activities.
Sun Coast has the expertise; and most important, a vast arsenal of emergency response assets to provide help when you need it the most. So it is with gratitude for your loyal support, and pride in our American way of life that I wish you all the best for the remainder of 2011, and with it my warmest regards,
Kyle Lehne, VP of Marketing & Disaster Response |

Lubricant Tip of the Month:
Viscosity index (VI) -- a commonly used measure of a fluid's change of viscosity with temperature. The higher the viscosity index, the smaller the relative change in viscosity with temperature. |
