Reader Rave: Winnebago Adventurer
"My husband & I have happily been living full time in our Winnebago Adventurer for the past seven years. I am excited to say that we are very pleased with the quality of our motor home. It has made our travels worry-free so our retirement can span visiting and experiencing the unique beauty of each of our United States.
"I am proud of our home, especially when guests are surprised that we have lived in it for seven years and it still looks like new. I believe one of the reasons for this is the great storage: there is a place to put everything. Also, the interior is not only nice to look at but is easy to clean and maintain. With our Winnebago we can spend our time sightseeing, meeting new friends and living stress-free. We follow normal maintenance schedules and are sure we will get from point A to point B.
"The 35-foot Class A floorplan is just perfect for our needs and wants. So many plans, to fit so many individuals. Just perfect!"

From the Galley
Reader Arnie Busby shares this tip for easy fried potatoes. And yes, there is a bag involved!
"Any time I go fishing, hunting or just on vacation, I love fried potatoes with all my meals. The way to have them without the long cooking process is this:
"Before the trip I put as many potatoes into a large pot as I think I will use for the trip. Fill with water just over the top of the potatoes and boil. Let the potatoes boil until they are just starting to turn soft, still firm but not completely done.
"Cool and keep in a zipper bag in the fridge until you use them. I use butter, oil or some bacon grease to fry the potatoes. I sometimes cut up some onion and fry them together. Enjoy this treat in almost no time.
From an ol' hunter/fisherman from way back."

Yo Ho Ho - Another Successful Rally!
More than 1,000 Winnebago and Itasca motor
homes -- and for the first time this year, Sunnybrook and Winnebago towables -- invaded Forest City, Iowa, as part of the Winnebago Industries Travelers Club's annual Grand National Rally.
The theme of this year's gathering, "Treasure Island," translated to a shipload of pirate-themed fun, plus informative seminars, craft classes, day trips and activities, entertainment, skills contests and -- of course -- celebrating life with friends old and new.
If for some odd reason you didn't make it this year, it's not too early to start planning for next year.

Perhaps in keeping with last issue's Civil War destinations article, Chuck and Pat Hanson sent this along to share.
"We spent some time in a unique and interesting place this past fall, Historic Washington State Park in Arkansas. It was the capital of Arkansas during the Civil War and many of the buildings from that time remain.
"One can walk around or take a tour (we recommend the tour -- you learn lots more!) and have lunch in the old town tavern. The courthouse is restored and beautiful, and there are people in period costumes telling about life in the city during the war. Some of the homes are currently lived in and some kept as they were. And the largest magnolia tree in the U.S. is located there. It's awesome.
"Hope we have encouraged some interest, as Historic Washington State Park is a really great place to visit!"
Thanks for the tip, Chuck and Pat. A small token of our esteem is on its way to you for alerting us to this wonderful destination. And if you have a great destination to share, by all means send it in!
