In our first article we discussed the broadest, most prevalent influence of the moon, the phase; waxing or waning, full and new moon energy. This is where the tidal energies that effect our earth and us begin. After the phase of the moon is taken into consideration is living harmoniously with the earth's energies, there are subtle energies that we feel and respond to according to which astrological sign the moon is transiting at any given time. So let's just dive right in! The time the moon spends in each sign can be from less than one to just over two days. On average the moon spends about two to two and a half days in each sign. We'll take a look at the first six sun signs in this article.
Please keep in mind the energy described below is a general, prevailing energy as the moon passes through the sign. How each of the signs and the moon's position of the sign acts in your individual chart will somewhat alter how you work with energy in that particular sign. One of the most helpful things I have found about studying astrology is that I can comfortably predict the general energy of my interactions in a day-to-day existence, thereby improving my ability to coexist and succeed in every area of my life. My hope is that sharing this information may have some small similar effect in your life. Moon in Aries Energy: A time of enthusiasm and favorable for beginnings. Also favorable for making changes. The Moon waning in Aries is excellent for banishing rituals and exorcisms, as Moon in Aries favors works requiring the skillful wielding of iron and steel tools or weapons (sword, athame). The first part of the Moon's transit through Aries, when it is closer to Pisces is favorable for more spiritual acts, as a sense of "re-birth" is evident, and the mind is more inclined to deeper subjects, usually from a new perspective. Initiate or banish the influences required to bring about the desired change according to the Moon's phase during the transit. Nearing the middle of the transit, the strongest Arian tendencies prevail, which makes this an excellent time to indulge one's curiosity, experiment, or to seek inspiration or a direction. As the Moon draws nearer to Taurus, the Moon in Aries is a good time for initiations and handfastings.
Moon in Taurus Energy: The time to protect what one already has, rather than to seek something new. The power is on the side of the established position, so it is a poor time to try to change anything. Bankers and others in charge of money are slow in turning loose of it during this time, as the atmosphere is charged with caution and reserve, during the first part of the transit. So, it is an inopportune time for money spells. Toward the middle of the transit, there is more patience, placidness, and calm. A good time for rest, or engaging in things which require more patience than skill. The last part of the Moon's transit through Taurus is more favorable to acts concerned with communication and thought in practical matters.
Moon in Gemini Energy: Communication is the key drive at this time. Senses of wit and intelligence become sharper. Practicality tends to be slighted in favor of intellectual pursuits and metal games. People are more changeable than usual. Statements should be taken with a grain of salt, when made by persons who have already displayed signs of fickleness. Gemini is a sign barren in fertility and agricultural matters, and is primarily mental. It is an excellent time to prepare and calculate. The first part of the transit favors mathematics, drafting, design, etc. The middle part of the transit will lean towards the abstract mental creativity requiring innovation. It is a highly intuitive time. Toward the end of the transit, as the moon approaches Cancer, the trend is more toward emotionalism, and communications thrive which derive from emotional needs. This is an ideal time to try to bring about reconciliation's between lovers or family members who have been at odds.
Moon in Cancer Energy: Since Cancer is the most fertile sign, and the Moon's natural habitat, this transit is the most friendly toward acts in which fertility plays an important part. Sensitivity rises sharply when the Moon is in Cancer. Also, the power to sway or influence those with natural tendencies toward gullibility is heightened, as their desire for security and approval is the most ripe. Sensitivity is the keynote of this transit, and with it comes a strong drive toward self-indulgence. People are most inclined to have their feelings hurt during the Cancer Moon. As the Moon moves toward Leo, Leoine pride blends with Cancerian sensitivity. This is a time of great personal warmth and friendship. This is very favorable to acts seeking to bring about advancement in position, or to seek jobs dealing with people.
Moon in Leo Energy: Pride and circumstance come to the fore now, with matters of display and showmanship being most favored. Leonine generosity is activated now, making it an excellent time for charitable appeal; especially activities and entertainment for fund-raising. This is the time to cast spells for money, when the money must be obtained from someone else, rather than from capital gains sources. Overall vitality naturally increases with the focus on entertainment and romantic pursuits. This is the perfect time for dealing with persons in positions of power, especially if appeal is make to their nobler instincts and motives. Conflicts of leadership are more at the beginning of this transit. A time of pomposity and overstatement; a time to attempt to sway another, as they will take a firm stand as the Moon moves toward Virgo. As the Moon moves toward Virgo, you will make unassuming, yet ultimately forward advancement. The pride of Leo blends with the subtlety of Virgo, and this is a good time for subtle, ambitious moves.
Moon in Virgo Energy: Virgo is the Harvest Earth sign, and vitality is channeled into agricultural enterprises, and favors the growing of herbs and other plant life. It is a good time for acts dealing with health and diet. Anything which requires painstaking attention is favored. Intellectual matters which require exactness and precision rather than intuition and innovation can flourish. Matter pertaining to the home are favored, as the natural drive for upkeep and maintenance and upkeep strengthens. This is a good time for care, grooming and training of animals; also for healing of the same. The middle of the transit brings increased capacity for objecting and (at its worst, cold blooded) calculation. As the Moon moves toward Libra, this tendency is expressed as manipulation on a personal level.
