Dean A. Beers, CLI Keynote Presenter at Wyoming Death Investigation Conference

Dean A. Beers, CLI, owner and founder of Forensic Investigators of Colorado, LLC, has been a legal investigator since October of 1987. Each year Paul Zamora, the elected coroner for Carbon County, holds a continuing education death investigation conference. This year he requested that Mr. Beers give the keynote presentations. The conference is approved by the Wyoming Coroner Standards Board and Wyoming Peace Officers Training Standards Board for continuing education credits.
Mr. Beers gave presentations on DNA Evidence, Cell Phone Evidence, Crime Scene Photography, GPS Photography and Autopsy Protocols and Procedures. He has written and lectured extensively on these and other legal investigative topics. Other presenters included Mark Stratmoen (Fremont Chief Deputy Coroner - Scene Diagramming), Marty Luna (Laramie Coroner - 7 Steps to Medicolegal Death Investigation), Ed McAuslan (Fremont Coroner - Approaches to Death Scene Investigation and Manner of Death), Clark Robinson (Commander, Rocks Springs Police - Crime/Death Scene Investigation).
He is a Certified Legal Investigator and an expert in criminal defense homicide and civil equivocal death investigations. He is certified in Medicolegal Death Investigator and served as a forensic autopsy assistant. He has lectured and authored multiple articles, peer-reviewed white papers, and provided expert testimony on private investigator protocols. He authored Professional Locate Investigations and recently completed Practical Methods for Legal Investigations: Concepts and Protocols in Civil and Criminal Cases that will be available in January 2011.
In addition, he is the Board Chairman of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado, Region 6 CLI Representative of the National Association of Legal Investigators and has a column called Forensic Focus in The Legal Investigator, NALI's trade magazine, Membership Chair of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, Affiliate Consultant member of the National Association of Medical Examiners, and holds additional memberships in the World Association of Detectives, International Association for Identification, and Mensa USA.
He began his investigative career in 1987 and operates his agency, Forensic Investigators of Colorado LLC, with his wife, Karen, also a legal investigator and certified Medicolegal Death Investigator. They have two daughters, a granddaughter and identical twin grandsons.
