Dear Friends

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR

You are now apart of the growing tradition of Charlotte 49ers. The SAFE(Student Advising for Freshman Excellence) program is excited to invite you to become apart of this growing tradition; a tradition that grew from students who had a desire to learn, but needed help navigating the sysetm of a large university. Our students continue to excel because of the services offered through the SAFE program.

The SAFE Program provides students with a peer mentor throughout their first year year of college. First year students are matched with upper-class students who will serve, not only as a mentor, but as a confidant, and friend. The SAFE Program is one of the best retention tools at UNC Charlotte and I am positive you will benefit from our services.

To get a head start on your college experience, I would personally invite you to participate in the SAFE Mentoring Program. Participation in the SAFE Program is free and is open to all incoming first year students for theri entire first year of college. In addition, the SAFE Program offers first year students an opportunity to satrt their college experience early. We call this experience SAFE Voyage.

SAFE Voyage is a pre-orientation program which begins Monday August 15th and ends on Sunday August 21st. If you participate in the SAFE Voyage experience , you will be allowed to check into your residence hall early, meet your mentor, learn to navigate UNC Charlotte's campus, connect with students and faculty, and explore the many student organizations and departments availablr to you on campus. The cost for participating in SAFE Voyage is $125.00, which will cover the cost of your meals and other social events during Voyage. Your participating in SAFE Voyage will automatically enroll you into the SAFE Program and allow you to reap the benefits of having a mentor for the entire academic year.
