4-H Food Booth

food

A reminder to all clubs to call the 4-H Office to sign up for the 4-H Food Booth.  Each club is required to work a shift. The 4-H Food Booth is the major fund raiser for the county program.  The $5000 raised from this event helps fund the awards at activities such as 4-H Day, Teen Conference scholarships, project materials for our leaders, and the expenses of all the other county 4-H events.  We ask each club to support this effort.  It takes 7 to 10 people to staff the booth and at least 4 of these people need to be adults or capable teens.  If your club cannot fill a whole shift we can combine you with another small group.  The less busy shifts are earlier in the week.  The busiest shifts are Thursday and  Saturday.  We must have full  shifts for these times.  (Food Booth Schedule

IMPORTANT! - BUILDING EXHIBITS

fair setup

Clubs must reserve the space they will need by July 6th.   You must request space for BOTH club and member exhibits and an indication of the types of items that will be displayed so we can obtain the appropriate judges.

Clubs and members exhibiting in the building need to help with Building Clean Up on July 13th, 5:00 - 8:00 PM.  Please call to let us know how many from your club will be attending.

EXHIBIT SET UP TIMES

Exhibits will be set up on Monday, August 1st from Noon to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, August 2nd from 9:00 AM until Noon.  All exhibits must remain in place until 5:30 PM on Sunday. Any exhibits removed before that time will forfeit premiums. All exhibits must be removed from the building by 7:00 PM Sunday evening.  Premiums will be forfeited if clubs/individuals do not remove exhibits including table paper and staples.  The 4-H Office is not responsible for exhibits left in place after 7:00 PM.

4-H Insurance Coverage

We have had questions on the types of insurance coverage

available to those in the 4-H program.

1. Liability Insurance - UNH has liability insurance to cover when

activities are held at a location and that location wants proof of

liability insurance. This request for a certificate of insurance is

made by the club to the Extension office.

2. As a recognized volunteer (screened and annually enrolled)

you are protected by NH RSA:508:17 which provides legal protection for volunteers by limiting the liability of an enrolled volunteer who is working within the scope of his or her official duties and following the guidelines and policies of the 4-H program.

3. Medical coverage can be purchased by 4-H clubs in two ways. Annual coverage for a club or group and the second as daily special event coverage. For more information: http://www.americanincomelife.com/

Barry Conservation 4-H Camp Ready for Fun

STILL ROOM IN SEVERAL BARRY CONSERVATION CAMP SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH: LET'S GO FISHING, HUNTER EDUCATION, MINI-CAMP (FOR YOUNGER KIDS), AND OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

What could be more fun for a kid than learning how to fish while

kids at camp

spending a week at summer camp? A special week-long overnight session (July 31-August 5) at Barry Conservation Camp in Berlin, N.H., gives youth -- boys and girls ages 10-16 -- the chance to become better anglers as they work with trained Let's Go Fishing staff and volunteer instructors. Novice anglers will learn the basic skills and equipment needed to get started fishing, while campers with more experience will work on improving their fishing skills and exploring the finer details of the angling world. Cost for the week is $475. Youth under age 16 in New Hampshire don't need a license to fish, so come along and learn how to catch the big one!

To sign up for the Fishing Camp week (also known as Aquatic Adventures/"Let's Go Fishing") or other 2011 summer programs at Barry Conservation Camp (listed below), go to http://extension.unh.edu/4H/4HCamps.htm or contact 4Hcamps@unh.edu or 603-788-4961.
