NH 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl Results
The New Hampshire 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl competition was held on March 19 in Walpole NH. Teams from Cheshire County, Merrimack County and Coos County participated in the event.
In the Senior Division top honors went to the Merrimack County team and Coos County placed second. The Cheshire County team of Jacob Blake, Nick Doolittle and Sarah Rogers all from Show Time 4-H placed third. Fourth place team which combined members from the Switch'n Horns and Pinnacleview clubs included Tristan Phillips, Jeremy Jochums-Chickering and Melody Robar. The fifth place team included Mackenzie Nichols, Jennifer Miller and Joe Davis from Hill & Valley, and Amy Gowell-Drogue from Cows R Us. Top individual honors went to Karleigh O'Brien, first, second to Tristan Phillips, third to Lucas DeBlois, fourth to Nick Doolittle, fifth to Amy Gowell- Drogue, Jacob Blake was sixth. (Full Article)

Recently, I accepted the position of Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development in Cheshire County. I have had a long history of working in Cheshire County as a Program Associate for 20 years. 4-H Day at Keene State College
 Over one hundred 4-H members from Cheshire County recently participated in 4-H Day, a county wide communications event that qualified members twelve and over for the statewide State Activities Day held in Durham NH. Members competed in Posters, Photography, Action Exhibits, Table Top Exhibits, Demonstrations, Public Speaking, and Fashion Revue. In the Poster category, the top three posters going on to the State event included; Clara Lane from Surry, a member of the Ultimate Equestrians, and Tabitha and Tristan Phillips from Walpole, members of the Pinnacleview 4-H Club. Sign up today for the 8th Annual 4-H Golf Tournament and help raise funds for 4-H all over New Hampshire! Golfers are needed: $125 for one or $400 for a team of four. Click here for information, registration and sponsor forms.

We are looking for donations for the 4-H Golf Tournament Auction. Items that have sold well in the past are: gift certificates, maple syrup, hanging baskets of flowers, and chocolates. If you know of someone who would donate an item, or have something to donate yourself, please let Andrea know. The auction also goes onto a web site, where people can have the opportunity to submit bids prior to the golf tournament. The NH 4-H Foundation supports many of the opportunities that our Cheshire County 4-H'ers are involved in, such as State Shows, Eastern States Exposition, Teen Conference and National trips. Please help to make this auction a success by seeking out donations in your community.

 Barry Conservation 4-H Camp Ready for Fun & Learning - Summer 2011 Are you looking for a summer camp where your kids will have fun while getting outdoors and active? The answer might Barry Conservation Camp in Berlin, NH. After a year off for facility upgrades, Barry Conservation Camp is back in business. Youth who enjoy hands-on learning about outdoor skills, conservation and the environment will feel right at home. Barry Camp is a weekly, overnight summer camp operated by the UNH Cooperative Extension 4-H Program and the N.H. Fish and Game Department. (Full Article)
New Hampshire Operation: Military Kids
Tour of Discovery Camps - Summer 2011!
Operation: Military Kids (OMK) is a nationwide program funded by the Army/4-H Youth Development Project and is implemented in New Hampshire by the UNH Cooperative Extension, 4-H Youth Development program. The OMK Tour of Discovery Camps provide our military kids opportunities to get connected; strengthen their communication and teamwork skills, peer relationships and support, knowledge and skills, and allow them to participate in stimulating, "hands- on" educational 4-H Youth Development activities. Themes for the 2011 summer camp include: "Reel in the Fun", "Capture Your Adventures!", "Food, Fitness and Fun". ____________________________________________________

State 4-H Horse Judging and Hippology Contest
In the Hippology Contest, the Cheshire County team of Clara Lane, Leah Varney and Sage Tourigney placed first. They were coached by Lauren Bressett. In the individual results Clara Lane of the Ultimate Equestrians finished in first place, Leah Varney of Minis Too, placed fourth, and Sage Tourigney of Ultimate Equestrians finished in ninth place. Congratulations, you all did a great job. Good luck to Clara and Leah as they prepare for the National Hippology Contest in Louisville, Kentucky this fall.
In the Junior Judging Contest Connor Greenwood of Minis Too placed fourth, Anna Cook of Swanzey Saddles placed sixth, Lydia Hurley of Abenaquis, placed seventh, and Nick Shephard of Ultimate Equestrians placed eighth. The individuals were all coached by Susan Lawson-Kelleher. Congratulations!
Cheshire County hosted the State 4-H Horse Judging and Hippology Contest. The two Cheshire County farms that cooperated with us in putting on this contest were Swanzey Stables, and Far Well Farms both of Swanzey.
At this time I would also like to thank the volunteers from Cheshire County who made this contest run smoothly. Whether you helped at a farm, helped at the school, or donated food, you are all appreciated. Volunteers are what makes our programs run smoothly. Thanks Again!
