Building for Generations

THANKS FOR WHO YOU ARE AND ALL THAT YOU DO...............OUR ANNUAL SALE WAS A SUCCESS ONCE AGAIN!!

Dear Friends of Building for Generations,

Our sale a week ago was a big success once again.  Thanks to all of you who donated items and to those that stopped by to BUY them.  We always love to see and visit with you!  And... want you to know I am available to pick up your previously treasured castaways once again!

I have often wanted to share more of the stories that I have from my travels. Just a brief but touching one was during my first visit in Peru.  I spent five weeks in a work program, three in a clinic in Lima and two in the Andes in a school for special needs students.  To my surprise, the first day I came to work there I was informed that the teacher was sick and that I WAS the teacher.  Never has my experience parenting my son served me better!!!  The classroom was modest, with ten students, all ages and abilities.  The name of the school was Juan de Dios and the students received a lunch provided daily, generally a bowl of seasoned rice.  During one of the lunch periods, there was a piece of meat in one of the bowls that was passed out.  I expected the child receiving that bowl to eagerly devour it but instead I became the witness of an extraordinary act of generosity as I watched him take a bite and pass it to the child next to him.  Carefully, each child took a share and passed it to another with no one child going without.

These are the recollections that frequently surface, keep my heart tender and work inspired.  THANK YOU FOR SHARING IN THE WORK!!

Sincerely,
