-NOTE FROM CORY-
Summer is here and it has been an exciting one.  My son has family that he had not met.  His half brother and wife flew out from Florida and his half sister came from Central California for the reunion.  After that excitement, I played host to Emmanuel as he flew in for Shared Adventures "Day on the Beach" event.  What a privilege it was to spend time with him and meet with Santa Cruz locals interested in his project.  Paula Leroy is currently working on his 501c3 papers for the school planned in Ghana.  Go Paula!!
Doesn't doing something new make us feel so alive?   An adventure, a calculated risk?  When you couple that with something that can make a difference you double your returns.  I would like to encourage you all to have a new experience this summer and I will let you know whats up for Building for Generations in the Fall.  All that said, I am sending a lot of pictures and a little text in this letter. And remember "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.  Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." Goethe

 UPDATE FROM TANZANIA

Thanks to You Raheel and her children have been set up to raise chickens and sell the eggs.  Her children, Dennis, John and Loth are in our Tanzania classroom. The family was previously destitute.  Thanks to you, this hand up means a new life!!  Dennis and John will be in regular ed. this year as they were suffering from malnutrition, and appeared to have a developmental disability when they came to us.  You made the difference!!

COMPUTOR PROGRAMS FOR

NAUREI, CLASS.  OUR TANZANIA

STUDENTS

UC Santa Cruz student Beth Henenberg delivered a number of computor programs to our site in Tanzania.  Computors were donated by an African company the year before but appropriate software was not available at the time.  Thanks to Harvey Pressman of Augmentive Communication Inc. we received a number of programs that Beth took with her during her internship in the country.

WHATS NEW FROM PERU

Construction is underway for an addition to our rehabilitation center in Chincha Baja, Peru.  We are so pleased at how the community has embraced this project.  The new construction is being financed by the mayor of the municipality and will provide them with a large room to conduct the parent trainings which help their children achieve the developmental tasks necessary.  We are expecting more pictures soon of the completed addition.

Building Rhythm, Music Project

Santa Cruz

Our partnership with MusicalMe (Music Together) has blossomed with results and is bursting with possibilities. Observations and teachers letters showed remarkable gains for the children. We are currently in 4 classroom settings for children with special needs.  Soquel High School, Scotts Valley High,  San Lorenzo Valley, and Chrysalis pre-school for children with autism. Our thanks to the NICHOLSON FOUNDATION for making this pilot project possible last school year. The total cost to conduct three 10 week sessions for these children and teens over the course of the 2012/2013 school year will be $4500.  This means:

$5.00 buys one music class for a child
$50.00 buys a 10 week session for a child
WE ARE ONLY $800. FROM REACHING OUR GOAL
YOU CAN BECOME A PARTNER IN THIS PROJECT
