Naurei Special Needs Unit, Built by Building for Generations, 2006

Dear Friends,

As some of you know I will be returning to Africa in April to visit our first project. Teri Smith, one of our board members will also be going with me.  It has been three years since I have been able to return due to the expense of the trip.  Teri and I are both paying our own expenses but the school has asked for some help to make repairs and paint along with needing some supplies.  Our end of the month Treasure and Rummage sale proceeds will go toward this work.  Please join us that day or come by to wish us well on our trip. I will be able to pick up more items during the month of May when I return, so would appreciate you saving your quality "Spring Cleaning" for us. We now have 70 students enrolled in the special needs unit and are also providing them with a daily lunch.  A big thank you to Annabelle Smith for her monthly donation to the lunch project, Gary Green, and the members of UNA who have assisted.  I am back to Africa!! Look for  news in April and May.

YOU MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN

"Building Rhythm" Music Project
Joaquin and Mariella

Building Rhythm, our music project, is currently serving 97 persons at three day program sites for persons with special needs in Santa Cruz County.  Our project is threefold and includes, singing, body movement and hands on experience with percussion.  If you are interested in visiting and participating in the "joyful noise" please contact Cory at 831-477-7882.  We are also looking for foundations interested in our work so that we may continue this enthusiastically welcomed project to its participants.  More photos can be seen in the sidebar.  Thanks so much to all of you who donated during the holidays. You have enabled this program to continue and assisted our work abroad. We are currently funded in all projects through the end of April.

News from Sullana, Peru
ADASE, the association of woman, love, solidarity and hope brings just that to their community in Sullana, Peru. Their primary focus is on children with Cerebral Palsy.  During my September visit, board member Rose Brindley and I met with these12  Peruvian woman who have devoted themselves to raising money monthly so that families and children can receive  therapy services.  ADASE clinic now sees 70 families with few resources and there are an estimated 1000 children in the Sullana area that need their services.  We will be dedicating the Human Race on May 7th this year to buy them  some of the equipment that they need.  Please see the sidebar for more pictures and look for more stories about this amazing project in future articles.  To walk with us or make a donation to the Human Race, go to "Home" on our website located at the top of this page or call Elena at 831-476-2377.
