Greetings!
I love this time of year - when everyone seems a little kinder, a little more patient, and full of holiday cheer. It is a time to reflect on impacts you have made during 2010 and a wonderful time to appreciate all the people, and purposes that feed your soul and your life. Just recently I received a letter from Christopher Cain that brought tears to my eyes and has provided enough 'inspiration fuel' to feed my soul for the coming year. I called to thank him for his wonderful letter and found that although his pet was the direct inspiration for writing the letter - writing it really caused him to reflect on his life and discover his true inspiration; his mother. According to him, she was a 'doer' that allowed her passion's to drive her life. She was involved with and cared for, many groups and individuals around her and she left this world a precious legacy of kindness and giving. Mr. Cain has vowed to become a 'doer' at the ripe of age of 58 and HSSM helped inspire this new direction. I love this! To know that our organization, centered on animals, and their needs, can inspire those within our community to reach such a revelation. I tell you this story in hopes that you too will be encouraged to find your inspiration and purpose. That you will hold onto the love and kindnesses the holiday season offers, and carry it with you through the coming year in order to help others; pets and people. The love, encouragement, and kindness offered in Mr. Cain's letter is what inspires us to offer our animals the highest level of care that they deserve each day. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and an inspiring New Year. Appreciatively, Jode' Braxton-Hignight Development Director
