Michigan Notable Author to visit Boyne District Library May 25

Gordon Olson will discuss "A Michigan Polar Bear Confronts the Bolsheviks" at 7 p.m. in the Library's Community Room.
Many Michigan soldiers, including those from our area, were sent to Russia near the end of World War I to fight the Red Army. They faced horrendous conditions and excruciatingly cold temperatures. Godfrey Anderson, whose memoir Olson edited, is featured in the film "Voices of a Never Ending Dawn," which was screened at the Boyne City Performing Arts Center in October of 2009.
Local Flavor will be on hand for a book signing immediately following the talk.
