Smart Searching

Did you know our catalog searches 22 other libraries? When you choose ALL in the search menu, your chance of finding your favorite book, DVD, music CD or audio book is multiplied. When you find it, simply enter your library card number and PIN to place a hold. Select Boyne City as your pickup location, and you can pick up and drop off the item here.

If your search still comes up dry, try the state-run Michigan electronic Library catalog, or MeLCat. With more than 400 participating libraries, and nearly 44 MILLION items, there's a good chance you'll find what you're looking for! You can pick up and drop off these items here as well. There is no charge for MeLCat, and the loan periods are similar to ours.

As great as MeLCat is, you should always search our catalog first. If we do have the item within our system, it will come much quicker and the cost to the library is much lower.

"Libraries sustain democracy. Libraries provide access to information and multiple points of view so that people can make knowledgeable decisions. The public library is the only institution in American society whose purpose is to guard against. the tyrannies of ignorance and conformity." --American Libraries, December 2010.
