Greeting's From The East
Lyman S. Robertson Jr. Worshipful Master 517-499-3330
Dear ,
As a teacher, I have always looked forward to summer vacation as a means to recharge battery, get reacquainted with my family and of course, rest. This summer my family has two great vacations planned, one of which to go celebrate the 80th birthday of my great uncle who I have not seen in more than 15 years. My sons will get their first bikes this summer and while it may not be restful, it will be awesome to watch their excitement as they master a new skill. My daughter and I have vowed to go to at least one concert together this summer, something we haven't done in years. And my wife and I are always hoping to get one or two date nights in during the summer as well.
As the Worshipful Master of my Lodge, I feel very much the same way about going dark for the summer months. These months are a great time to do as suggested in the Entered Apprentice charge and improve ourselves in Masonry during our leisure hours. Also, to converse with well informed Brethren. The Fellowcraft charge likewise recommends for our consideration additional studies to polish and adorn our minds. What better time could there be for these things then in the summer?
This summer I plan to sit on the deck and discuss Masonic books with a few Brothers, visit a new Lodge or two, have a cookout with my officers and maybe even hold an event at our Secretary's park. I encourage you all to seek out a new book and share the light with your brothers. Try and learn a new part in the ritual book and break it down for its meaning and connection to modern day Mason's. Recharge your Masonic battery and come back in the fall excited and ready to pick up the working tools and continue the great work we've been doing for years. This has been an awesome year so far and the second half will only get better! Walk Light my Brothers, walk Light!
Fraternally,
Lyman S. Robertson Jr. Worshipful Master

MASONIC SHORT TALKS
Frank W. Lutze P.M.
If possible please include the following in the June Trestleboard:
Last year I gave a short talk about Freemasonry and the Holocaust. Since then several Brothers have mentioned that they missed the talk and would like to hear it. Others indicated that they would like to hear it again. In response I will present this short talk again at the June Regular. I will have a Forget-Me-Not lapel pin for each Brother attending the talk for the first time.

A MASON AND A MAN
Brother, Masonry means much more Than a wearing of a pin, Or carrying a paid up dues receipt So that the Lodge will let you in.
You can wear an emblem in your coat, From your finger flash a ring, But if you are not sincere at heart This doesn't mean a thing. It is merely an outward sign To show the world that you belong, To that great fraternal brotherhood That teaches right from wrong. What really counts lies buried deep Within the human breast, Till Masonic teaching brings it out And puts it to the test. If you practice out of Lodge The things you learn within, Be just and upright to yourself And to your fellowmen. Console a brother when he's sick, Assist him when in need, Without a thought of personal reward For any act or deed. Walk and act in such a way The world without will see, That only the best can meet the test Laid down by Masonry. Be always faithful to your trust And do the best you can, Then you can proudly tell the world You're a Mason and a man.
