Greeting's From The East
Frank W. Lutze Worshipful Master 517-563-8338 Dear , Greeting's Brethren, The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has left more than 20,000 dead and missing and nearly 500,000 people homeless. The images of devastation from the Katrina hurricane years ago are still fresh in our minds yet pale in comparison to the recent disaster in Japan. Our Craft is active in Japan. An internet search yielded information on the Grand Lodge of Japan and several Lodges. This disaster provides an opportunity to put our Masonic tenants into practice. Contributions to the relief effort can be sent through the American Red Cross, which is only a click away on your internet browser. "A quarter of a dollar, a dime, a penny?" March came in like a lion as far as lodge activity was concerned. The Regular Communication was preceded by a Saint Patrick's dinner of corned beef and cabbage. Six of our Entered Apprentices demonstrated their proficiency during the Regular. On March 24 our Lodge hosted the District 46 elections for District Deputy Instructor and Board of General Purposes representative. Thanks to the Brothers and Officers who participated. We should all be proud of how well our Lodge was represented. A Fellowcraft degree practice is scheduled for March 31 at 7:00 PM.All brothers interested in being a member of the degree team or supporting the team are encouraged to attend. Our schedule for April begins with a Fellowcraft degree on April 7 for seven Brothers. The regular on April 14 will include a spaghetti dinner. Practice for the Master Mason degree is scheduled for April 21. Plan on attending Lodge in April. The ice and snow is gone.Spring is here.Attend the Regular Communication or the Fellowcraft degree, or both. When was the last time you had a opportunity to see seven Brothers passed? Come out, share a meal and the brotherhood of our ancient fraternity. If you need a ride please contact a lodge officer. I am looking forward to greeting each of you in Lodge.
Fraternally,
Frank W. Lutze Worshipful Master |
What Makes A Mason?
George H. Free
What makes you a Mason, O brother of mine?
It isn't the dueguard, nor is it the sign,
It isn't the jewel which hangs on your breast,
It isn't the apron in which you are dressed,
It isn't the step, nor the token, nor grip,
Nor lectures that fluently flow from the lip,
Nor yet the possession of that mystic word,
On five points of fellowship duly conferred.
Though these are essential, desirable, fine,
They don't make a Mason, O brother of mine.
That you to your sworn obligation are true- "Tis, that, brother mine, makes a Mason of you. Secure in your heart you must safeguard your trust, With lodge and with brother be honest and just, Assist the deserving who cry in their need, Be chaste in thought, in your word and deed, Support him who falters, with hope banish fear, And whisper advice in an erring one's ear. Then will the Great Lights on your path brightly shine, And you'll be a Mason, O brother of mine. Your use of life's hours by the gauge you must try, The gavel to vices with courage apply; Your walk must be upright, as shown by the plumb, On the level, to bourn whence no travelers come; The book of your faith be the rule and the guide, The compass your passions shut safely inside; The stone which the Architect placed in your care Must pass the strict test of His unerring square, And then you will meet with approval divine, And you'll be a Mason, O brother of mine. |
From the Secretary's Desk
Brother's,
At the March 24th, 2011 meeting to elect a District 46 Board of General Purposes Representative and District Deputy Instructor, the results were as follows:
- Board of General Purposes - George M. Otis, P.M. of Jackson Lodge No. 17
- District Deputy Instructor - Dale R. Hedy, P.M. of Addison Lodge No. 157
- District Mason of the Year - Gary D. Bolton, P.M. of Addison Lodge No. 157
If you see Worshipful Brother Bolton in your travels congratulate him as he is well deserving of this honor by both his lodge and the district.

We have just completed a massive project at our Masonic Center in Michigan Center. We had to do the following:
- Clean the entire building and replace the furnaces. Install new rooftop heating and air conditioning units with new air ducts.
- Throw away a lot of items that are of little use to us anymore.
- New Hanging Sign out front and in the very near future a new Masonic/York Rite/Eastern Star lighted sign on the building.
We now have a more efficient building that we all can be proud of.
COSTLY - YES BUT NECESSARY $80,000.00 WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! PLEASE, contribute as liberally as you can without material injury to yourself or family! Thank you for your support!

Special Note To The Brethren
Member's of all Jackson-Coolidge Masonic Bodies
We are in need of your email address for transmitting the electronic version of the Jackson/Coolidge MTA Trestleboard on a monthly basis. It is becoming more expensive to produce the Trestleboard due to rising postal rates and the cost to make the printed copies. (We usually print about 300 copies). If you would still like to receive it by mail that is fine too. Just let us know your preference.
