Local Fair Trade Towns Campaign   

La Mesa, CA  

There are around 1,000 Fair Trade Towns in the world but thus far there isn't one in Southern California.  Fair Trade San Diego hopes to change that! Along with our partners in East County, FTSD is working to make La Mesa a Fair Trade Town.

But what does La Mesa need to do to become a Fair Trade Town?

- Build a Steering Committee: La Mesa already has a strong steering committee in place that is working to promote Fair Trade in the city.

- Reach Out to Retailers: There are several retailers in the city already selling at least two Fair Trade Certified item.

- Pass a Fair Trade Resolution: Members of the steering committee have been in close contact with the Mayor of La Mesa to discuss passing a town resolution.

- Engage Your Town & Get Media Support: The campaign has already begun engaging the La Mesa community and has received some buzz from the media, but in October engagement will go one step further with a media event.  The campaign will reach out to the media and work even harder to educate the La Mesa community and indeed the whole county about the importance of Fair Trade.

Angel Green All Natural Baby Products   

Angela Maweu is the founder and owner of Angel Green-All Natural Products.  Since high school she has been passionate about social and environmental issues. Growing up in Africa she is familiar with the positive changes Fair Trade creates in a community.  She has participated in activities that have helped raise awareness in green living and Fair Trade.  

 
With the birth of her son 5 years ago, her passion changed to how she could make a difference, hence Angel Green- All Natural Products was born.  

Angel Green - All Natural Products, is an organic, Fair Trade business that specializes in children clothing's made of bamboo, organic cotton and soy fiber.  Its mission is to provide eco-conscious parents and care-givers with products that are organic, Fair Trade and good for the environment.   

Angel Green is founded on the idea we all can make a difference through what we wear.  When buying organic, Fair Trade products, one is making an ethical choice that creates a positive ripple effect.  Angel Green products are inspired by nature and carry a message that celebrates green living.

In early 2011, Ange Green partnered with www.plant-trees.org. For every product Angel Green - All Natural Products sells a tree is planted in Africa.  This will help in agro- forestry and conservation of natural habitat.
