Inviting Your Input

The board of directors at Midwest Partnership EDC will soon be meeting to create a new multi-year strategic plan for the organization and region.  As staff, we are doing our best to prepare for a productive session with our 30 member board from Adair, Audubon, Greene, and Guthrie counties.  We take seriously the input you provide to us as friends, allies, and partners as we strive to retain and create jobs and businesses in the region.  Please take time to complete the short survey.  It will only take 5 minutes (or less)!  Responses will be collected until September 7th.

As a kick-off to construction of the "Hotel Greenfield" redevelopment project, ADCO Enterprises, the manager of the project, had a  photo-op session on site.  The photo-op took place on Monday, August 23.  Hotel Greenfield and the Opera House were both awarded Main Street grants through the I-JOBS program, totaling $1.5 million.  Pictured are (left to right) Tim Foster, Gail Steward, and Jay Howe.

Valley Business Park
Plans progress as developers work to recruit businesses

Valley Business Park AerialThe neighboring counties of Audubon and Cass several years ago received a grant to complete a feasibility Master Plan to examine a joint partnership in the funding, location, and development of a multi-use business park, known as the Valley Business Park.

The park is located at the Interstate 80/U.S. Highway 71 interchange, approximately 65 miles east of the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metropolitan area, 70 miles west of Des Moines and approximately 69 miles north of the Missouri border.    The relationship is organized as a 28E agreement, led by a steering committee with members from both counties.  Representatives are included from the following entities: Audubon County, Cass County, Cass/Atlantic Development Corporation (CADCO), and Audubon County Economic Development (ACED).  The park has received interest from several significant prospects during the last few months, and marketing is ongoing.
Iowa Open a Success
Event returns to Lake Panorama after 12 years

Iowa Open Check PresentationAfter a 12-year hiatus, the annual Iowa Open golf tournament returned to Lake Panorama National Golf Course this year, thanks to sponsor Brokers International.  The Panora company provided $25,000, which made for the largest purse in the history of the Iowa Open.  That attracted nearly 100 golfers from across the state who tried for the title August 20-22.  Pictured is title winner Zack Vervaecke being presented a $7,000 check by Roger McCarty, Founder and CEO of Brokers International.
Run, Ride, and Roll
Greene County event to be held Sept. 4

Run Ride RollRunners, bikers, and bowlers won't want to miss the first annual Run, Ride, and Roll triathlon contest on Labor Day weekend, beginning in Jefferson on Saturday morning.  The race starts with a 5K run, followed by a 12.5K bike ride before a progressive lunch break back to Jefferson for a fun bowling tournament to round out the day.  Participants can pick one or all of the events in which to compete, with prizes to the top athletes in each sport, as well as a top overall score.  You can register the day of the event.  Click here to find out more!
