Greetings!
Do you make New Year's resolutions? We all have things we want to change don't we. The turning of the calendar always seems to mark a new beginning, a new opportunity. The truth is everyday is an opportunity for a new beginning.
If I have one resolution it is to live in the NOW. Someone once said, "It's easier to live in the sweet by and by than the nasty now and now". Why is that? It's because it's easier to wish for things to change than to actually do something in the now to make it happen.
Living in the now doesn't mean not planning for the future, it means living your life to the fullest. It means trusting that every minute of every day is a God given gift and is part of the master plan for your life. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 Last week Caroline, (my beautiful bride) and I made the eight hour pilgrimage to the beach to attend my baby sister's surprise 50th birthday party. While the party was wonderful the time spent with Caroline talking and sharing our hopes and dreams for ourselves and our children was the best.
One of the things Caroline and I enjoy while traveling in the car is listening to inspirational CD's. This trip we happened upon a wonderful little story by Leo Tolstoy, you know, the "War and Peace" guy. This is considerably shorter than "War and Peace", thank goodness.
Caroline published it in her worship team Newsletter and I took the liberty of copying it so you could enjoy it. It is a great proverb for living in the NOW. Just click here and enjoy.
Remember, it's never too late to start living in the NOW.
