Greetings!
Have you ever thought about your paradigm? It's not your everyday word. It's pronounced para-dime. One dictionary definition is, A set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline. We all have a different paradigm don't we? I'm the oldest of 6 children and while we all share many things in common we each have our individual paradigms. As a society we have collective paradigms. Great examples of major paradigm shifts were, the Wright brothers and the air plane. Thomas Edison and the electric light. The list is long but you get the idea. When a barrier is broken, we as a society make a shift in our thinking to not only accept the idea but to push the envelope even farther. Most people assume that their personal paradigm is something they are born with or part of their fate. You've heard statements like, "I've always been that way", or "no one in our family ever did it that way", "can't teach an old dog new tricks". We all know that those and all the rest are just excuses we fall back on so we don't have to face the real truth that we either, don't want to or don't know how to make things different. If you've ever watched a child walk, ride a bike or read a sentence for the first time, or do a new trick on the balance beam, then you know what a paradigm shift is. The shear joy and excitement of the moment speaks volumes. Those objects of fear and trepidation suddenly became conquerable. We embraced them as part of our new paradigm. Like Dr. Wayne said, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." I read recently that the three most sought after changes in peoples lives are, money, weight and relationships, in that order. Maybe we need to change the way we look at these things? Shift well! I love you guys, God Bless, Don Enjoy this paradigm shifting Video! |
