Greetings! Did you by chance watch "Dancing with the Stars" last week? I didn't watch every show but Caroline made me watch the finals :-) Hines Ward, a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and his partner won the coveted mirror ball trophy. Hines made a statement at the beginning of the show that caught my attention. He said he could "see" the trophy in his showcase. He also said he "sees" every touchdown. The more vivid the vision of your goals and desires the faster and more assuredly they will arrive. Several years ago I began a practice of reading aloud a personal statement to myself everyday. My statement includes several promises from the Bible such as, "His favor surrounds me today as a shield. Psalm 5:12 I expect favor today from heaven and from the earth." I include a personal vision statement expressing some attributes I want my life to reflect. I have a brief description of what I want my life to look like in six areas. Career, Family, Physical, Spiritual, Financial, and Personal. I end with a prayer and a statement. My prayer is this, "God thank you that you have better things in store for me than I would even choose for myself, that your dream for me is even grander than my dream for myself, and your resources are inexhaustible!" Amen The statement is this, "You can never change what you tolerate." This whole process takes me about 5 or 6 minutes but on the rare occasion I miss it, I miss it. I don't tell you this to say look at me. I tell you this to reaffirm what I'm sure you already know. The clarity of your vision is critical to the life you want. I want to end with my favorite little story of vision. Walt Disney died before the completion of his amazing Epcot Center. On the celebration of the grand opening a reporter said to Walt's widow. "What a shame Walt couldn't be here to see this. She replied, Oh, he saw it. He saw it before anyone else." You are an amazing creation of God. You have a purpose. Don't let your vision fade in the fog of all that life will throw at you. I love you guys, God Bless, Don |
