Greetings! OK, I know some of you are poised over the delete button but hear me out please. Even if you are not a golfer or a golf fan there are some amazing life lessons to be learned by observing the game. Like life, you're all alone. Yes, you have coaches, mentors, family and friends and of course competitors, but the final read on the putt or the club selection and the decision to proceed is yours alone. And like life, if you're a professional sometimes you have to play whether you feel like it or not. The young South African Charl Schwartzel, won the tournament with a truly amazing final round, but I was impressed with the even younger Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland. Rory lead the tournament by a substantial margin up until the last round when his game fell apart. As I watched this I couldn't help thinking, this is like a microcosm of life's ups and downs. Rory Mcllroy will come back to win many tournaments in his life. Why? Because he understands that, like Bob Perks said in the quote above, "failing is a necessary step to success." Every great figure in life be it sports, business, politics or whatever their endeavor has failed more then they have succeeded. I love the quote by Thomas Edison when asked by a reporter if it was true that he had failed 10,000 time at inventing the light bulb. "I have not failed. I just found 10,000 ways that it won't work." You see failure gives us the opportunity to evaluate and move forward much more than success does. Every great thing ever accomplished was proceeded by failure. It is only in making the decision not to try again that we truly fail. I want to leave you with one last quote. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 I love you guys, God Bless, Don
