Why Gymnastics?

If human beings are perceived as potentials rather than problems, as possessing strengths instead of weaknesses, as unlimited rather than dull and unresponsive, then they thrive and grow to their capabilities.

Barbara Bush

Greetings!

I have been involved with the gymnastics community for over thirty years now.  Being a glass artist I deal with lots of other types of business and other sports as well.  Sports in general have a great uplifting and self esteem building aspect to them when approached with the child in mind, but gymnastics is special.
When someone not involved with gymnastics visits my website or ask me what I do, I'm frequently asked, "Why Gymnastics?"
The simple answer is, it's a beautiful art form.  It lends itself to graceful lines in glass, but the real reason I've been drawn to gymnastics over the years is the people.  The kids and especially the coaches, Gym owners and parents.  The quotation above, to me exemplifies the attitude of the Gymnastics community.
I personally don't know of any coaches or gym owners who have made great fortunes in gymnastics (except maybe Bella), but I know of many who have enriched the lives of hundreds of kids.  Through their sacrifice of long practice hours and many weekends at meets away from home, they have given them confidence, courage and self esteem that will change their lives forever.  How do you put a price tag on that?
So here's to all who teach, coach and love our children.  Thanks, and God Bless you.

I'm new to this social media thing but I really want to learn.  I welcome any advice and comments.
I wondered if I was too old to learn this, but my wife said I was just too impatient. :-)

Glass Gymnast being made on YouTube
See a gymnastic sculpture being made.  We turned a 30 minute operation into 3 minutes with the magic of video editing.  This was originally done as a countdown for my church.
One last thing.  I recently added some friends and new contacts to the mailing list.  If you received this and you don't want to be on the mailing list, please don't report this as SPAM.  Just hit the unsubscribe button below and you will be removed immediately.  Thank you and God Bless,
