ARMA CT Chapter - Check us out!

Message from Brian...

Hello and Happy New Year to you and yours!!

Everywhere I look the Presidential election steals the headlines and every time I hope to see myself on the news I realize that they are talking about the actual President not the Chapter President. What?  How could this be? Nobody knows that our Chapter will be holding elections in just a few short months and I am shocked!! Okay, maybe not shocked but certainly disappointed. Why you ask?  Well I am disappointed because not many people outside of this industry know who or what ARMA is.  I am thinking that after my term of President ends I will become an ambassador of Records to other professional groups and spread the word of Legal Holds, Retention Dates & Offsite Storage. Well that may not go over to well either so we can think of other ways to promote ourselves.

My question to you is this though. If a large portion of the business world is unaware of ARMA and possibly the Records and Information Industry as a whole how do you promote yourself and your team in your own company?

I have taken the liberty to include a few questions for 2012. (I ask for a favor in advance that if you are able to share any of your answers, please send them in.)

1) How will I market myself / team in 2012 to rest of company?

2) What is our value?

3) Who are my biggest allies? And why (IT, Legal, Quality, etc.)

4) How can I better myself/team? (Training, ARMA, ILTA, etc.)

5) Am I taking advantage of my ARMA Membership?

I certainly hope these will get you thinking and in case you get stuck, I am confident that answers to these and many more of the questions you face daily will be answered on Tuesday January 17 during our Members Panel Meeting at Diageo in Norwalk...

With Regards,

Brian

Good Times!
ARMA CT Holiday Party
Article and pictures by Doreen Smith, Director of Awards and Special Events

This year's Holiday Gathering took place at Brazi's in New Haven on December 5th. Brazi's fireplace and beautiful decorated rooms were a welcome invitation to a memorable event. We had an enjoyable time networking with new and old friends.

President Brian Paul and Bethany Sapia from CMEEC

After a delicious four course dinner, Doreen presented the 25 year service award to Don DuPont. Don spoke of the wonderful people he has met through ARMA and some of the highlights of his travels.  Don mentioned that "Getting involved with ARMA was one of the best things he's ever done!"   Bill Ludkiewicz reminisced with Don on their experience in New Orleans.

Bill Ludkiewicz
Right!  I remember ... New Orleans I think it was ....

Holiday Trivial Pursuit was enjoyed by all. Prizes were awarded to those who answered two questions first. Everyone received a token of appreciation for the support and many took home gifts to enjoy.

On behalf of the ARMA CT Chapter Board of Directors I would like to thank Don for his many contributions to our chapter and its success throughout the past 25 years - Here's to the next 25!

Congratulations to Don Dupont on his

25th Anniversary with the chapter!

Matt Fisher, ARMA CT Chapter Treasurer and Don Dupont
Don is presented with a token of appreciation from the chapter -- a
spinning glass world globe.
He sure does have the world at his fingertips now!

NEW THIS YEAR ... CRM STUDY GROUPS

Anyone who is studying for the Certified Records Manager (CRM) exams can sit with a CRM during the 5:30-6:00 pm networking period to ask questions, get advice or look for whatever help you may need.  We can also work with you one on one, just let us know your preference.  We are very fortunate to have so many CRMs within our chapter membership and one or two are usually in attendance at each meeting.   Just let us know that you are studying for the CRM and we can make ourselves available.  Even though we are always available, we want to reach out to members who are thinking about pursuing the CRM or who are already in the process by making ourselves available at Chapter meetings especially during the networking portion.

Here are most of the ARMA Connecticut Chapter CRMs that may be available for assistance during one of our meetings:

Anita Castora, CRM; Melissa Dederer, CRM; Eunice DiBella, CRM; Ron Ellis, CRM; Bill Ludkiewicz, CRM; Carolyn Mariani, CRM; Pat Mark, CRM; Linda Mosier, CRM; LeAnn Power, CRM; Jason Stearns, CRM; Dana Yanaway, CRM; Karl Zoeckler, CRM
