Message from Brian...
I'm pleased and excited that our chapter is able to offer a unique triple experience at our end of year program. We will experience some great history located in a picturesque setting along the beautiful Connecticut River in East Haddam. I personally guarantee great weather. As we looked into different venues for this event, our Director of Awards & Special Events, Doreen Smith, found a real gem. At 3:00 pm we'll start with a guided tour of the Scherer Library.
"The Scherer Library of Musical Theatre at Goodspeed is one of the most extensive musical theatre research facilities in the United States. The collection boasts more than 70,000 items, providing an invaluable resource to academics and professionals around the world. Dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of the art form, the library carefully maintains a comprehensive collection of scores, sheet music, scripts, original cast recordings, programs, photographs, and theatre memorabilia in a facility located in East Haddam, Connecticut. Currently, these reference tools are utilized by Goodspeed staff and the musical theatre community at large in the re-creation and revitalization of period musicals and in the creation and development of new works.
Established in the 1970s to provide historical research for Goodspeed productions, the library has evolved into a valuable resource for theatres across the country, as well as students, scholars and the public. The Scherer Library of Musical Theatre is the only specialized library in the country directly connected to a fully professional producing musical theatre.
Managed by Joshua S. Ritter, our Education & Library Director, the library's non-circulating collection is fully accessible with viewing and listening equipment available on site. The materials in the Library of Musical Theatre are available to the public for reference and research by appointment only ..."
Following the library visit, we'll tour the Goodspeed Opera House and go "behind the scenes." The evening will conclude at the Gelston House, with appetizers and cash bar at 5:00 pm, dinner and awards to follow, including the Chapter Member of the Year presentation.
The Board of Directors will meet this summer for our annual all day planning session. I look forward to an exciting kick-off meeting this coming September.
I'd like to personally thank each one of you who has supported this chapter in ways too numerous to mention. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on the 21st!
With Regards,
Brian F. Paul

On Friday, May 20, 2011, the ARMA Connecticut Chapter held their spring seminar at MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The facility was beautiful and there was ample room for those lucky people who were able to attend this event.
The program was focused on best practices for managing records. We had two outstanding speakers this year, Dr. Gregory Hunter and David Stephens.
In addition to the two programs offered, the Connecticut Chapter put on a vendor show representing 14 records management related companies.

How about some summer reading?
by Anita Castora, CRM
You've all heard of the New York Times Best Sellers List. Let's change it up a bit and look at the ARMA CT Chapters "Best Sellers" List.
Is anyone studying for their CRM? Are you looking for some interesting summer reading? Well, you don't have to look for or spend any money! I'll be glad to mail you your choice of up to three RIM related books for 30 days.
This is a great time to do a little recreational reading and grow in your profession. Imagine yourself on the beach, your hammock or a cool place relaxing and dreaming about having that prestigious designation - CRM - behind your name. Success!
There's no better time than now and no better place than on the beach to learn all you can learn about Records Management!
This is just another benefit for our members -- the great individuals who collectively make up the terrific ARMA CT Chapter Membership.

ARMA CT Records Retention Committee
Anita Castora, LeAnn Power, Holly Mazzeo, Christina Doyle

by Anita Castora, CRM
We are very excited to announce that
our ARMA CT Chapter has an updated retention schedule, policy and related forms! They were approved at the June 10, 2011 Board of Directors meeting and will be effective on that date. All of these documents will be posted on the 'Members Only' portion of the ARMA CT web page.
Thanks to the hard work of these very talented records managers who were part of the ARMA CT Records Retention Committee: Christina Doyle, Holly Mazzeo, and LeAnn Powers, CRM. We represent multiple years of experience in different types of industries (utilities, law firm, government, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, banking) and worked as a team to provide easy and efficient direction for the Chapter Secretary.
This was an opportunity to use our skills, network and get to know each other a little better. Although at times it was challenging with juggling work, ARMA and family, we had fun and feel good being able to contribute to the ARMA CT Chapter.
