Message from Brian...

Weather, Weather, Weather!  That is what we said for much of January.  Well, I am pleased to say that we are back on track with our sessions and our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 22nd in New Haven where we present "Intro to Records Management" by our Immediate Past President, Anita Castora, CRM.  We are holding this session in New Haven to accommodate feedback received from our monthly meeting surveys.  While this session will focus on some basics, it can also serve as a reminder to some seasoned veterans and is sure to offer some great industry networking, so I hope to see you there.

I was at an event this past week and spoke with a gentleman in Mergers & Aquisitions.  After we exchanged pleasantries and I told him what I did for a living, he proceeded to tell me everything about the Records Industry.  Where it is going, where it has been as well as what I should do.  He explained all this to me in five minutes, yet he has never heard of ARMA, did not know what a CRM was, and insisted that a Document Management System was the same as off-site storage.  Well, needless to say the conversation was interesting, yet quite alarming.  The sad truth is that many people in today's business environment still can't comprehend the importance of a good Records Program and many are not even sure what it means.  That is why our job as members of the RIM and ARMA community is to remind people of not only the true importance but also of the resources within ARMA that are available to those who can benefit.

As always, thank you and I hope to see you on the 22nd ...

With Regards,

Brian F. Paul

President, ARMA Connecticut Chapter
