Message from Brian...
Brian presenting Eunice 25th Anniversary
Service Award

At our September 28th Educational Program I had the pleasure of honoring long-time member Eunice DiBella, CRM, with a 25th Service Anniversary Award.  This award is a wonderful testament to the importance of not only joining ARMA, but getting involved and participating.  Eunice has been instrumental in building and leading our chapter into what we are today and for that we are grateful.  If you have not already done so, please take another look at our September newsletter and read the article on Eunice and how much she has done for our chapter.

Now to the business at hand.  Our first meeting of the year was fantastic!! We had a terrific speaker in John Jablonski at a new a location in Baci Grill, which provided us with a very enjoyable and educational evening.  I received good reviews from everyone I spoke to and cannot tell you how thankful I was, when I had two e-mails waiting for me Wednesday morning complimenting the Board of Directors on our event (thank you ladies).  I mentioned in my opening remarks, that our job as a Board is simple.  We are striving to provide the membership with the highest quality of events possible.  While our task seems simple enough, we need your help. We need to know what else you the membership wants to hear about and where.  We are trying to accommodate everyone, but please let us know what we can do for you to get the most of your membership.

Our next topic involves Ethics in RIM and is being presented by Jeff Bridges from Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. If there was a topic we could and probably should present every year, wouldn't you say "Ethics" could be on that list?? Not a day goes by when someone doesn't see or hear about a case involving ethics or questionable practices in today's business world.  While some industries can argue they are regulated and have much more attention placed on them, right and wrong is the same all over and I encourage everyone to attend to see how we stack up.

As I finish this message I will ask a favor of some of you (hopefully not many).  If you are not planning on attending our October event can you let us know why??  I love to share good survey numbers with the Board but I think we can all agree that the surveys we don't receive are just as important.

As always, thank you, and see you on the 19th...

With Regards,

Brian F. Paul

ARMA International 55th Conference & Expo

Put San Francisco in your plans. Attend ARMA International's 55th Conference & Expo, which will be held November 7-10, 2010, at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco. It's never too early to start planning for the 2010 ARMA International Conference & Expo, which delivers the resources and tools you need to better govern your information.

The 2010 ARMA International Conference & Expo is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, at Moscone Center West. Close to Union Square, you can hop on a trolley to take in the breath-taking sights on the way to Pier 39 and Alcatraz. Chinatown, historic North Beach, and the Embarcadero are just a few blocks away.

Look for information at: http://www.arma.org/conference/2010/SanFrancisco.aspx

Editor's Note:  In these tough economic times, more than ever you and your company need to stay on top of the latest in information management issues.  To give you a little help in presenting your case to management,  I have re-created an article from an un-known editor of an un-remembered newsletter that was printed prior to the 1991 conference held in Orlando.  (I would love to give the credit to the appropriate person, so if you know it please send me the information.)  Anyway,  please click here to read the article "TIPS TO SECURE ATTENDANCE APPROVAL FOR THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF ARMA INTERNATIONAL," which is posted on the bottom of the Links and Archive Page of the ARMA Connecticut website, under the heading "Chapter Document Archive".  Special thanks to Carolyn Mariani, CRM for this information.
