Eunice DiBella, CRM
Eunice DiBella, CRM
Celebrating 25 Years!

Eunice DiBella, CRM, joined our chapter July 1, 1985.  Things were very different back then.  It is amazing how much has changed.  To put things in perspective, here are a few historical events that occurred in 1985:  Postage Stamps cost 22 cents; the first Internet domain name symbolics.com was registered (there are now over 200 million!); Dell Computer released the "Turbo PC"; Microsoft Windows 1.0 was introduced; Ronald Reagan started his 2nd term as President; the Titanic was discovered; the Record of the Year was "We are the World" and the top non-fiction book was Iacocca: An Autobiography by Lee Iacocca.

Eunice has been instrumental throughout the past 25 years, always being the  advocate for good records management practices.  She served in many board positions including President in 1989-90.  The Association has meant a lot to her both personally and professionally.  She was a frequent speaker on a wide range of archives and records management topics at local, regional and nation venues including ARMA International's annual conferences.  She attended 15 international conferences!  She is a member of the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) and was awarded the designation of Certified Records Manager in 1993.  Eunice was appointed Public Records Administrator in 1989 and retired from the Connecticut State Library in 2009 after 37 years of state service.

Please join the Board of Directors in congratulating Eunice on her 25 years with our chapter.  We thank her for the many contributions she has made to our chapter and wish her the best as she enters the very special "retirement" stage of her life.  We will be acknowledging her special 25th service anniversary during our September meeting.

Double Dipping - Are we still in a recession?

Editor's Note:  While many news sources believe the recession is over, many others do not.  Some believe we're in a double dip recession.  As professionals in Records and Information Management, we know that companies are continually looking at streamlining costs up to and including savings by outsourcing.  The article link below is is an excellent read from one of our members, Linda Mosier, CRM.  She is the Conflicts & Records Manager for the law firm of Robinson & Cole LLP.  She is a past Board of Directors member, holding the position of Vice President-Secretary of our chapter.  Click the following link for article.

Chapter Donates $50 to The Mark Twain House & Museum

As reported by our former Vice President-Treasurer, Ray Jansak, our chapter received an acknowledgement of a gift made to the Mark Twain House & Museum.  Actually, due to a sequence of events, we prepaid for 35 tour participants when only 30 were accounted for.  Therefore, there turned out to be a $50 overpayment and we agreed to make that a donation.

ARMA International 55th Conference & Expo

Put San Francisco in your plans. Attend ARMA International's 55th Conference & Expo, which will be held November 7-10, 2010, at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco. It's never too early to start planning for the 2010 ARMA International Conference & Expo, which delivers the resources and tools you need to better govern your information.

The 2010 ARMA International Conference & Expo is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, at Moscone Center West. Close to Union Square, you can hop on a trolley to take in the breath-taking sights on the way to Pier 39 and Alcatraz. Chinatown, historic North Beach, and the Embarcadero are just a few blocks away.

Look for information at: http://www.arma.org/conference/2010/SanFrancisco.aspx

Editor's Note:  In these tough economic times, more than ever you and your company need to stay on top of the latest in information management issues.  To give you a little help in presenting your case to management,  I have re-created an article from an un-known editor of an un-remembered newsletter that was printed prior to the 1991 conference held in Orlando.  (I would love to give the credit to the appropriate person, so if you know it please send me the information.)  Anyway,  please click here to read the article "TIPS TO SECURE ATTENDANCE APPROVAL FOR THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF ARMA INTERNATIONAL," which is posted on the bottom of the Links and Archive Page of the ARMA Connecticut website, under the heading "Chapter Document Archive".  Special thanks to Carolyn Mariani, CRM for this information.
